http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tm...30217/ap_on_sp_ba_ne/bba_orioles_bechler_dead A terrible tragedy for everyone involved. My thoughts go out to his family, teammates and friends.
" Hargrove said yesterday that staff members were watching Bechler particularly closely to make sure he was doing his work. The day before, Hargrove singled out Bechler for his poor workout, saying he did not work hard enough and was not in good enough condition." http://www.nytimes.com/2003/02/18/sports/baseball/18BASE.html I guess Hargrove got him to work harder that day. And now the Orioles are badmouthing Belcher left and right. I hope his wife sues for 9 figures.
Gotta feel bad for his family as well, kid due in April and all. The Orioles are acting like complete *********************s, completely disgusting.
First of all, my cousin is in the Baltimore Orioles organization and will likely be at either Ottowa or Bowie to start the season, and therefore would likely have been a team-mate of Bechler this season. It's disconserting to see the leaked reports of Bechler's alleged ephedrine use, but I haven't seen any statements disparaging Bechler, except for the report of Hargroves singling him out the day before for not working as hard as the other players... what did I miss?
What exactly did the Orioles say? From the reports I read, it only seems like Hargrove was pushing Belcher to work a little harder. Did I miss something?
and, which hits close to home for minnesotans, this is so similar to the death of Korey Stringer. just an awful, awful waste, and COMPLETELY avoidable!
