"Dubbed Senate Bill 742, it identifies a terrorist as a person who "plans or participates in an act that is intended, by at least one of its participants, to disrupt" business, transportation, schools, government, or free assembly. " http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/nm/20030403/ts_nm/life_protests_dc_1 Wow. I have no comment.
Having heard Larson once or twice, I can submit with confidence he's the first tool I can name that without whom Portland would be better off. Suprising that the article is easily actionable by citizens who read it. Specifically, listing the legislative sponsor of the bill (name and phone number, or at least name), such that he/she/they can be contacted by those living in the area to whom this is relevant (or those outside the area who do not wnat a stupid precedent to be set). Actionable news. Empowers the citizens instead of the powerbrokers and media, who don't want you to act in any context except that of "consumer." Call this Republican so-called Senator, John Minnis, and tell him that he is WAY out of touch with both the American tradition and Americans generally...
I guess the constitution hasn't made it to the Senator's desk yet. If this thing ever passed (we know it won't so let's be hypothetical) no court in this country would be stupid enough to actually use it. But it's scary that people actually voted for someone who obviously has no clue about our nation's constitution. Yeah, I want John Scumbag from Oregon taking away the rights our forefathers defended so well.
Calm down guys. Abortion protestors have been given their justice by being charged under the RICO act for years... You'll get use to it...
You're a little behind the times. The Supreme Court ruled a few months ago that this was an incorrect application of the RICO statutes.
Not even the state I live in, which has a Republican governor and an 85% Republican state legislature has come up with something this goofy. Although, we are working on a law declaring Dennis Rodman a terrorst and a law authorizing the death penalty for superstars who push off in game 6 of the NBA finals.
Comic Platinum! After all, it was NOW that stopped the abortion protestors. Why do women hate our freedoms?
Comedy triple platinum! Since when does NOW write and pass laws in this country? I know that the energy companies have written some of our laws since Bush occupied the White House, but I didn't ralize that the NOW Party was part of our national legislature with the Republicans and Democrats.
