    Hi all,

California Custom has secured a very limited number of retro Earthquakes jerseys for the throwback weekend August 21 (less than 100 are available). These are red jerseys with the white v-neck and thick black & white stripes on the sides and shoulders.

For those that want XXL or M, I'd suggest ordering asap, as these sizes are extremely limited (5 each).

Cost is $30 per jersey, $35 if you'd like a name and number added to the back (tax included, S&H additional). They are scheduled for delivery the week of August 16th and will be handed out at the Club Quake tailgate.

To order, you can call, fax, or email California Custom directly at:

Are they the same type of jerseys that were sold at the Reunion BBQ and game in 2001 (just curious)? :)

    GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!!

Same as 2001, but the Quakes logo will be the version without the stars on the soccer ball, I'm told.

    Thanks Mike! :)

Did the NASL Earthquakes' jersey have the stars or not (or did they have both versions in different years)?

Based on the hundreds of programs I recently looked at, I'd say they used the stars beginning in 1978 or 79 (going without the stars from 75 to 77 and with a whole different logo in 74).

There were a lot of variations... they removed the words "San Jose," they removed the word "Earth," they had stars, they had no stars... all depends on the year.

    You thought you were confused...

    Thanks again, Mike. :)

In this day and age, I suppose we shouldn't be too surprised if the uniform itself is changed every 3-4 years... but the logo? Yikes (though that is indeed what happened back then)!

    GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!!

I'm sorry to say there won't be any long sleeve jerseys. They're ordering about 100 jerseys total, with most going to the players for the reunion game. The rest are being pre-sold here...

Will the current Earthquakes players be wearing retro NASL San Jose Earthquakes uniforms against Dallas that day? If so, will the Burn players be wearing retro Dallas Tornado uniforms?

    Q

The Quakes will be wearing throwback kits -- but they will be ones approved by Nike...

I ordered two! It would be great if we could fill the Casbah/CQ with throwbacks for the nostalgia game.

    Go Quakes!

Agreed...I ordered one as well. The price is outstanding and if you have any sentimentality for those NASL days, it'll be an outstanding keepsake. Besides, look at how well the throwback gear is doing in other sports. With a league that is so relatively young, I think it's kind of awesome to be able to break out something so retro of our own!

Back in the day these were the real kits, I looked EVERYWHERE for one and couldn't find them. The disappointed 20-year-old in me is thrilled with this turn of events!!!! :D Cooler, still, if the Quakes hit the pitch in throwbacks that day.

I will be delighted and proud to wear mine--especially if it is from a limited lot of only about 100 that is being shared by the team.

    Thanks for this info Mike.

A question...is there a cutoff date for ordering?

I've been out of state for almost 3 weeks tending to a family illness and I only noticed this thread today! Internet access has been sporadic for me.

I did email cacustom. I hope I'm not too late.

They are due the first of the week and personalization will happen Tue-Thu. We will likely have them at the SSV rally on Friday and for delivery at the CQ BBQ Saturday.

(As of last week, there were about 10-15 left, L and XL only).

Also, the 30th Anniversary photo scarf is complete and due this week. It features the names of every player to ever wear a San Jose jersey -- from 1974 to 2004 -- and also has photos of prominent SJ players like Johnny Moore, Paul Child, Dom, John Doyle, Troy Dayak, Jeff Agoos, and Landon Donovan. Contact merchandise@clubquake.org, if you're interested...
