We are now at Condition Orange. Prepare yourselves accordingly.

I don't know what "orange" means. Is it half way between yellow and red alerts, or it is a warning for Florida only?

That is because you are a self-hating liberal, and want us destroyed, or a member of the terrorist cell and know you are safe.

I am in my bunker right now.

I'm sure everything felt the same to the people who died on Sept 11, 2001, when they got up that morning.

You missed the point of my post. The increase in the supposed terrorist threat has not really changed anything in this country. You don't see increased patrols everywhere. In fact I'm going to make the claim that this country is not really that much safer than we were on Sept 11.

I was a delivery driver this summer, and you'd be surprised at how many high-rises you can get under just by looking like you know what you're doing. Heck, I even got onto a military base with out them checking the back of my truck. The increase in alert is more of a political thing, so it appears that the government is doing something.

If they did, then they spent the last day of their lives worried and miserable to no benefit.

People will defend themselves when needed, and are capable of learning. The people on the aircraft didn't try to stop the hijackers because it was not in their experience that such people would want to kill everyone - before, such people only wanted transport or hostages. It can't happen anymore.

But you have to go on living. You shouldn't change your life because we are under Orange Alert, whatever that means. To do otherwise does not help, and it fills you with a feeling of self-importance you do not deserve.

No, I am part of the conspiracy-theorist militia sympathizers. Black helicopters are black because that is the color of oil.

The alert system is probably more for the benefit of law enforcement officials around the country, to be extra vigile and properly staffed.

Orange Alert would be a really good soft-drink name.

Reminds me of when my dad used to work in RAF Gutersloh, when those [sarcasm]patriotic freedom fighters[/sarcasm] the IRA were active in Germany.

And it would be a good soft drink name.

P.S. That chart would be a bit ************ if you were colour blind.
