This is something that should be in this forum as whatever happens in Brazil - Cameroon directly affects the US.

Etoo puts Cameroon up 1 - 0 10 minutes from time. If this holds up we are in a world of trouble as Brazil - USA basically amounts to a elimanation match. Especially when you conisder that Cameroon - Turkey is played Before USA - Brazil. this match will mean MUCH more to the Brazilian coach who's job will probably be on the line.

The standings as of RIGHT now (about 5 minutes left in Cam - Bra)

    Country W - D - L GF GA +/-
    Turkey 1 - 0 - 0 2 1 +1
    Cam 1 - 0 - 0 1 0 +1
    USA 0 - 0 - 1 1 2 -1
    Bra 0 - 0 - 1 0 1 -1

Looked pretty close to the best 11 Brazil could have trotted out based on their roster for this. Maybe some people more familiar with the Brazilian team could shed light on this.

Makes you wonder how this will affect Brazil's team selection Saturday. Will the likely media call for massive changes be heard, or will we see a similar side to the one fielded today?

    Stupid Parreira

That's what I have written in the brazilian forum:

Thank you Parreira for another uninsterested, piss poor game from Brazil. The friendly against Nigeria was just a shadow near this display of negligence, bad passing and terrible crossing. Not mentioning the cameroonese outrunned the brazilians everytime.

What about the strategy? WTF was the best fit player of the brazilian league (Alex) doing in the bench the whole game? Why change Adriano for another foward in the inexperienced Ilan? The only ************ing sub in the entire game!

At least the brazilian press is already taking it seriously. Galvão Bueno the powerful Rede Globo commentator didn't give Parreira a rest for the entire 2nd half. Claims for Alex have already started. This will shake their worlds for a little.

About the Cameroon team, they were unrecognizable. They didn't played like an african team. Very close, tough on defense, physical, and outrunning the brazilian attacks. More like an european, scandinavian team. They scored in their only clear chance in the 2nd half till then. They didn't play the entertaining, attacking and fun to watch african game. But Brazil deserved to lose anyway, oh yeah!

Honest Question - Do you think that they completly outskill our boys? Will we have a chance against these guys?

If we play like in the Cameroon game, yes, the US have a chance to win. Just put your mind into it.

But like I said, after this match the screams will already be heard from the brazilian press.

As an impartial observer I can tell you that IMO the USA can definitely win the Brazil game.

If they play committed, high tempo and defend ok then it's there for the taking. Virtually any half-decent team could do it if they put in a good effort and Brazil aren't taking it seriously.

Brazil are always vulnerable in these little friendly competitions, they just don't play anywhere near their peak. But for this reason any victory over them outside of the World Cup finals is usually pretty hollow.

I predict 3-1 or 3-2 to Brazil (would love to be wrong)...but I see a long shot that this game could be a debacle for US (4-0 loss or so)....Brazil will be super-motivated, and will take a thrashing in press during next 2 days...

US will be playing a defensive back 4 (likely) that has never played together before, and Howard has little Nat experience....if US doesn't show up early- and I hope US gets off to a fast start and can put pressure on Brazil- it could be a tough afternoon..

Again, hope I am wrong....would love to see our kids make a giant leap here...(an early Clint goal wouldn't hurt)

I agree that this will be a tough game, and the potential is there for it be ugly. I don't think it will be ugly, though. Remember, the US is motivated, too. We played pretty poorly today. Today's game was winnable, and not winning will motivate the boys. Our backline will also be better with Boca in there. I win will be tough, but we'll play well, compete, and learn.

Im a fan of both teams so it was a bad day for me. I honestly dont know who to root for Saturday . I was born in Brazil and have lived in the US for 29 years, thats most of my life.

THE ONLY way both can advance is if both games tie on Saturday and Brazil and US handle their Monday games.

In all honesty, it looks bleak for the US, especially if ARENA continues using KIROVSKI up front and sitting guys like Mathis and Stewart. That may have been ARENA's biggest bonehead move to date.

If Cameroon TURKEY ties on Saturday I will root for a USx Brazil tie and then put all bets on Brazil trashing Turkey and the US getting past Cameroon...long shots but we shall see.

    Very dissapointed today.

I am still not changing my opinion of USA-Brazil. USA were subpar but Brazil did themselves no favors against Cameroon. They didn't gain any ground on the Americans tonight.

Both teams have to retool anyways because of only one day's rest, but Brazil has a lot more thinking to do than the US, which only has to firm up the backline. So I figure it's still a toss-up if there must be a winner Saturday. After Cameroon, Brazil is no sure thing at this Cup.

    brazil best 11

this was probably their best 11 against Cameroon.

Dida - CL winner with AC Milan
    Lucio - Bayer neverkusen
    Juan - ditto
    Emerson - AS Roma
    Belletti - Villareal in Spain
    Richardinho- Sao Paulo
    Adriano- Parma
    Ronaldinho- PSG

the only player with a lot of int. exp. that didn't play was Alex
