Because the general public doesn't associate Nick or MTV with Viacom. The company XM Satellite Radio Holdings sells one product.
Contrarian is as contrarian does, I suppose. If you can't see the connection, I'm not about to explain it. (Also, when was the last campaign against MTV? Were O&A on there recently?) Sadly for your sad little campaign, XM decided that losing your subscription was worth it based on what they might have lost from the big guys if the kept O&A.
I'll be surprised if O&A don't have a contract with XM like Imus had with CBS, that is XM understood that these guys were creeps and were gonna talk like creeps. Nevertheless, the thing I am the most pissed about is that one bullshit femanazi (yes, it's appropriate in this situation) decided to go through the steps of subscribing to the XM service, turning on 202 after being warned on the reciever that the network contained explicit content, waited for hours with a recording device and the distrubiting said "offensive" material and the distrubuting it to others just to get her panties in a twist. Meanwhile, I lose my good time.
CBS produced the Janet Jackson halftime show Yeah. I guess I lose. Don't expect me to be happy about it. Hopefully soon, you get to lose something that you enjoy.
It is strange that those who whine have more rights than those who don't. Radio loses more funny. Yet Ann Coulter is still on. HATE is ok if you say it like you mean it I guess.
Then they get to go to court and fight for their money. Contracts and lawyers are great for such things. It's never appropriate in any situation, you sexist pig. Yes, well, how dare someone talk critically about a publicly-aired radio show! Only unfailing praise for the mighty and noble O&A are permitted!
No, I'm talking revenue-generating products and services. Viacom has many. XM has one. So when someone on XM Radio does something that gets negative publicity, it directly affects the entire company. Someone does something offensive on MTV and it barely registers a blip at Viacom Corporate.
Doesn't help me and the rest of the audience none Men can be femanazis too. It's not sexist. I was describing a woman who went out of her way to be offended. Not praise. Just leave them alone, especially when it's a pay service.
Whats the point of a pay service that preaches no censorship and freedom of speech only to buckle and suspend/fire one of their most popular shows? Where's the uproar about the Sopranos beating and calling a innocent black guy the N word in last weeks episode? Should comedy shows be shut down now because some acts might offend people?
It's not about offending people, it's a business decision. XM figured they'll make more money without O&A than with them. There's no obligation that requires them to carry O&A if they see it as a losing option.
Come to think of it, with the exception of the local commercials simulcast for MLB, NHL and NBA, I can't think of any commercial sponsors on XM. Can anyone recall any. Granted, I only listened to about a dozen stations on XM, but I remember it being commercial free. If that's the case, It means that XM and XM alone are the whimps here. It also means that they value a hole with a recording device over the thousands who pay for their service on a monthly basis.
Perhaps someone should set up a new Federal governmental office to protect rancorous morning disc jockeys from the vagaries of the free market.
Because you're a big fan of violent rape. Got it. Your act is old Matt. You're a parody of yourself now. The characature of libertarians is that they're undisciplined adolescents who want to cuss and ******** and get high. You've got it down to a T.
No, I'm a fan of the obsurd and the dark. That's all it is. Obsurd, dark humor. No act here. And who's trying to be funny. I am saddened by this develoment.
What kind of sick psychopathic ********er thinks violent rape is humor of ANY kind? Seriously, you're not entertaining. I'm going to choose to believe that you're just winding people up. Wait, let me step back a second...do you know about the bit that got them canned?
Woah, woah. Slow down, superdave. You're leaving out some key details. The joke was about the violent rape of Condoleeza Rice. If you can't see humor in that, you're dead inside.
And the queen. Come on, That's just plain silly. Plus, if you listen, it wasn't rape. It was just wicked violent sex. Nothing to say it was consentual.
