"Nichols said his involvement in the human shield program was in part 'penance' for his participation in the Gulf War when a U.S.-led force drove Saddam's troops out of Kuwait."

Nothing like defending a weaker people from the agressions of a sadistic dictator to send you right to hell.

If/When the bombs fall they might have second thoughts about it because this won't deter the US Armed forces.

Actually, it might. I don't think the death of a few dozen British or American citizens would play very well in the media.

Either way, I admire the resolve of people who use non-violence to oppose violence.

Most people will say they shouldn't have been there anyway.

As someone that is old enough, rich enough and white enough to not ever have to fight in any war, I really couldn't care less if we go to war or not. That said, I think what these people are doing is wonderful. In fact, we ought to recruit more people to do the same. In fact, maybe we should spread the word that there's gonna be a WTO convention in downtown Baghdad the day after we plan to start striking just to make sure we have the maximum number of nutjob protesters we can possibly get over there before the bombing begins.

British and American citizens died fighting for the Taliban in Afghanistan, and no-one gave it a second thought.

    You admire stupidity?

Once the media learns that they are a bunch of left wing nuts who went there on their own, I doubt the people will care that a bunch of morons discovered that the 'if you step in front of a bomb you die' theory is true.

In fact, I'd actually be much more for this war if we could get enough of these bozos over there that need killin.

I think murdering a few innocent Iraquis is a small, but worthwhile, price to pay to eliminate the evil beast that is the moronic ignorance of the protesting population that think this is a good idea.

When are human shields going to head to Tel Aviv to prevent Hussein from launching missles against Israel (like he did the last time, and Israel was not even in the war).

Oh, wait a second, I forgot, it's all Israel's fault.

That was a sign held by a protestor in San Francisco. Funny how the Times forgets to mention that ANSWER is controlled by the Worlkers World Party, which supported the Soviets after invading Hungry, the Chinese after Bejing, and Milosovich after Screbeniza [sorry for the poor Serbia spelling]

If Hussein has no qualms about killing Jews, why would he worry about a few Euros and Americans?

So if these people end up being held hostage by Iraq, who will rescue them? I wonder how many of them booked a one-way ticket as opposed to a return ticket...

That is actually a great idea. I'm going to start spreading the rumor right now that there is a WTO conference in Baghdad come mid February.
