I believe that Garth mentioned that the first practice will be open to the public. That's tomorrow isn't it? If I remember right, noon-2pm. Also its at the fieldhouse at the U. That's the building directly east of the stadium, right? Another question - do they enforce the parking permits on Sunday? Just wondering where to park.
Well I know for a fact that they do not enforce parking on Sundays. Thats the only thing I know for sure. Is the practice at the Fieldhouse or the Spense Eccles Fieldhouse?
It just says "Utah Fieldhouse" on the chat transcript. The building I'm thinking of is just North of RES. Is this it? What is the one up on Guardsman?
It's almost certainly the field on gaurdsman, which is called the spence-eccles fieldhouse (and has a full sized football field inside) and not the field house across from the stadium, which has tennis courts and exercise equipment. You should be able to park anywhere.
Just got back from the supposed training today from 12 to 2 pm. I was surprised to find Lacrosse players training instead of them RSL boys. After speaking with one of the Lacrosse coaches, as well as another gentleman walking around outside, I was informed that RSL had been there in the early am. Apparently the Lacrosse team had the Spence-Eccles Fieldhouse scheduled from 12 pm to 11 pm. I don't know what the hell happened. If it is going down tomorrow I'd sure like to know. And is the Spence-Eccles Fieldhouse the same thing as the Utah Fieldhouse??? WTF? Regardless, I'm a little pissed because it was a complete waste of time.
Looks like its Spence Eccles fieldhouse tomorrow at noon http://www.oursportscentral.com/services/releases/?id=3584367
The Spence Eccles fieldhouse and the Fieldhouse are different places. After looking around the best thing I found was this: 2008 Real Salt Lake Preseason Schedule Saturday, Jan. 26: Players report to Salt Lake City for entrance physicals / fitness testing Sunday, Jan.27: Training at Spence Eccles Field House in Salt Lake City, 12:00-2:00 p.m. MT http://www.oursportscentral.com/services/releases/?id=3584367 I think I am just going to show up at the Spence Eccles Fieldhouse tomorrow at noon and see what happens.
To my knowledge there are only two fieldhouses in the state... One is at BYU the other is Spence-Eccles Fieldhouse on Guardsman Way at the U. Today was only physicals... Tomorrow it is at the Fieldhouse
I was very impressed with what I saw at the practice. Hopefully, the youthful group of players with the help of a few veterans and prove positive for the team this season
Does anyone want to see the out-of-focus pictures I took? Deuce was there so I have to imagine that he (along with others) have some in-focus pictures?
Nothing gets rid of the winter bitterness more than seeing friends and new players. I have to say that this event created more RSL excitement for me than i have had in longer than i care to say. Also a big thanks to Czar and Deuce for letting me help with their interviews. It was a very nice birthday treat for me and i can't wait to see Czar's video work. Everyone should be excited for it...
I can't wait to see this as well. The one with Wingert was hilarious. Yes. My out-of-focus pics need some company. Here are several (sorry for all of the space that they take.)
Unfortunately I stayed pretty stationary, which was probably a mistake. I would have looked to have taken more pics of the new players, but didn't get the chances. (Plus I am still figuring out this new camera.) More pics here http://s245.photobucket.com/albums/gg45/realslfan/RSL Opening Practice/, but I think most of the decent ones are posted here.
It was good to see the team together again. I was encouraged by what I saw. It was hard for me to pick out a lot of the new guys by name, but I was impressed with Ian Joy. I hope he lives up to our expectations. Also, I was surprised to see so many fans in attendance. It's really cool to have such open access to events like this.
Kinda wish I had hung around and seen some of the interviews. I was happy with what I saw. It was nice to see people again and to meet some new ones. It's nice to feel like we're getting closer to the season starting.
I'm not sure if you can see, but in the background, you can see Jason watching a player. I'm not sure which one. I didn't know he was in the background when I took it.
