Using the WC as an argument for either keeping him or selling him is bogus thats all Im saying. I understood what you said as implying "see how well he played in the WC, that means we shouldnt sell him". Nobody with any shred of reason suggests selling a 22 year old supremely gifted athlete who we bought two seasons ago for 130 million. So I dont think there is a real discussion here. But again, he would have been a 22 year old supremely gifted athlete who we bought two seasons ago for 130 million regardless of the WC.

Jude achieved this feat in the fewest World Cup matches of anyone on this list. He's also the only player here, along with Rivaldo, to do it in just two World Cups.

You're still arguing against the same point I explicitly said I wasn't making. Once I've clarified that I wasn't using the World Cup as an argument, there's nothing left to debate. My comment was simply taking a jab at the people who were calling for him to be sold.

There is nothing new about Jude that we didnt already know in this World Cup. Nothing.

Some were calling his 1st season with us a fluke :whistling:

I think he's a bit wasted on this team, like in terms of a profile. He's playing all over the pitch and nobody is able to find his runs... Well, Arda could but they never play together as they're pushed into the same role. He's still a hard worker most of the time, but ultimately his RM form hasn't been ideal for the most part these last two years.

We all know he's a beast as a goal scoring AM.

The only way I see the midfield work longterm is to have a "Kroos" in MF for playmaking and to sell Arda if he doesn't develop into one soon.

It's the the flawed FOMO roster construction that is killing us now.

I'm just happy Argentina didn't weasel their way into another title. Even the refs can't help you when you only have 2 shots at goal.

Jude is best deployed in a 4-4-1-1 where he’s playing behind the forward.

He’s not a CAM or CM or DM.

we need two outside mids who will work hard defending. Which is impossible with Vinny in the squad.

Can't wait for England's top scorer to slot in front of the defense in the double pivot role in Madrid.

That's going to be Fede's (and Tchou's) role.

That isn't going to be Jude

The question is, where does Guler fit in now.

I am sure we will play 4-2-3-1 with Jude as a 10 when we are attacking and probably 4-4-2 without the ball with Jude as a LM in most of the matches.

Getting Cucurella was huge, because with Jude they can cover Vini’s lack of defence. With a line of Jude-Tchou-Rodri-Fede we will be solid enough in the middle of the park and on the flanks too.

And Mbappe is top 50. Wow we really got a couple of pressing demons upfront. We should really stop believing our eyes. Maybe stop watching altogether, that way we could go with any story we like.

That stat is basically nothing. Defensive pressure actions count could be 1000, but if it is not with high intensity, which was clearly the case with our attackers - its useless.

The bigger problem is that Vini is not tracking back his fullback and that creates 2v1 situations against our fullback or 3v2 against our fullback plus midfielder. Even Kroos was angry about that, you can watch the documentary of the 2024 CL final.

Do you think Opta and Diario are just out here counting every time Vini lightly jogs in the general direction of a defender? Defensive pressure actions are literally defined by closing down an opponent to force a turnover or a hurried pass. He registered 92 of them.

But because that verified data completely nukes your "Vini is lazy" agenda, you suddenly want to invent an invisible "intensity" metric that only you can see. Flat earther logic.

Kroos absolutely adores Vini ,called him the best player in the world, backed him relentlessly. Taking a split second of normal on pitch shouting that happens in literally every football match ever played and trying to spin it as Kroos despising Vini's defensive work reeks of desperation.

Mbappe being 48th doesn't mean the stat is broken. It means that lightly jogging to cut off a CB passing lane twice a half (what's bare minimum required of a modern forward) is enough to land you right in the middle of the pack. There are 100s of starting forwards in Europe. 48th is perfectly & aggressively mediocre.

You’ll look at a verified metric proving vini works his ass off, then point to Mbappe perfectly average ranking and declare the entire concept of data tracking a fraud.

It's unfortunately the bare minimum though. Just that the sport has started tolerating d*ckheads a lot more than it should.

Stars used to be a lot more approachable before everything became about getting a selfie and injecting yourself into their situation in a way.

I’ve never understood the appeal of having a 15 or 20 second interaction with an athlete or celebrity. I’m just old.

It depends on the situation. Had cool moments with players and others where I felt like it was obvious that the player felt like he was treated like an animal/a circus attraction.

Can't stand crowding people, but having a moment where you randomly meet a player is pretty cool if it's low key and phone less. Saw a former German international at an action going unnoticed and I asked him whether the item he bought is heavier than the world cup trophy and he found it quite funny. I'm sure if I would run up on him putting my paws around him with my phone in hand his mood would be significantly different.

Off camera a lot of players are incredible to listen to. Won't say who it is but somebody with a very decorated career as a coach and player that's now in his 60s told me "Vini is without a doubt one of the best players in the world but seeing him act the way he does makes me want to throw up". :D:ROFLMAO:
