One is a winger receiving most % passes in final third with very little G/A output thus far in this WC
While they're trying to undermine Jude's incredible productivity, by claiming, "he's a forward, not a midfielder", despite receiving significantly lesser % passes in final 1/3rd.

 

Two players can be good. One argument can still be rubbish.

The point is that people call Yamal the face of Spain despite modest output then bend themselves into a pretzel to dismiss Jude’s production by calling him a forward. Meanwhile Jude receives far less of the ball in the final third while doing more midfield work and still produces more.

 

Yamal is overrated. Said it before. I've not seen him influence one big game yet.

The point was never that Yamal is bad. No need to be defensive on his behalf.

The point was that people use “he plays deeper” to excuse his low output. Then use “he’s basically a forward” to dismiss Jude’s high output. Same people using opposite standards ( whichever one protects the favourite that day) is disingenuous.

The version of Jude we’re seeing at the WC has a team around him, unlike RM. I still don’t see any fundamental change at RM next season unless Jose can get them to buy in and make some hard decisions on who plays.
