What I’m saying is what else could England have done? The draw was like that due to multiple results but England did what they had to in the group. Should they be blamed for that?
That's correct they did what was expected of them. I think what most were dissapointed with was that they failed to convince in any of their 5 games on their way to the final. England went through the group stage drawing 2 games and winning one
Lately he looks like he is playing from a place of anger. Like there is a pent-up frustration in him. He is obviously serious and driven, which is a good thing, but it's been a long time since we've seen him properly enjoying football, at least to my eyes.
He easily deserves the Balon d’or, despite him having some poor games recently (who doesn’t over the course of a season), he still made a difference in so many games, plus the season he had overall he clearly deserves it. Two finals, two big trophies and league player of the season.
I can tell you that Jude is getting a disproportionate amount of the blame, but that's probably because: 1) The expectations were higher for him 2) He positioned himself as the "star man", rightfully or wrongfully By all means of statistical analysis and the eye test, he was a more effective player than both Foden, Kane and to a lesser degree Saka. However, Kane is getting a lot of criticism over here in the UK, there's no doubt about that, even more so than Jude. But those people saying that Foden is getting criticised proportionately with Jude, that is simply untrue. He was played, in his favoured position as the number 10, whilst Jude was pushed out to the left wing to support Shaw / Trippier for 4 crucial matches, and was simply awful throughout the whole tournament other than that cameo vs. the Swiss. Foden is being protected for reasons that have already been discussed here, and no major TV or radio provider, social media platform or newspaper even mentioned the possibility of dropping Foden (or Saka), which was the complete opposite to Jude.
Thank you. Jude will be fine. The great and terrible thing about football is that people live in the moment. There will be other tournaments, other games, other opportunities. He is 20 years old, he will have unlimited chances to change people’s minds. Jude just needs to get healthy as he won’t be able to do what he wants to do for either club or country if he is in pain.
FWIW any respectable journalist is calling the report sent out from The Athletic as being pathetic and calling the English media an embarrassment. They highlighted four things in the report: 1. The Adidas Ad staring Jude 2. Apart from the group and how he’s only ever seen with Trent 3. Chosen not to do any sit down interviews 4. They picked up on the “Who Else” moment. They did all this with Beckham (multiple times) and many other England players before and after him. Jude won’t be the first and won’t be the last. Like Beckham, he has a great family around him and a solid support system at the club.
🗣️ Zidane: “I love Jude Bellingham & I love his personality in the sense that he’s hungry and always wants to do more. I’m glad he’s at Real Madrid.” @TheAthleticFC pic.twitter.com/pFKLIPzNLP— Madrid Xtra (@MadridXtra) July 15, 2024 🗣️ Zidane: “Jude Bellingham’s season being a surprise? Not for me. He’s the right player for Madrid. We saw something this year, but I think in the future we are going to see a very strong Jude Bellingham who is going to be Real Madrid history.” @TheAthleticFC pic.twitter.com/SQ36q7TgrX— Madrid Xtra (@MadridXtra) July 15, 2024 🗣️ Zidane: “Jude Bellingham compared to me? Each one is what he is. I think he’s going to be a different player. Apart from the #5 that we both wear, technically he may be similar but we don’t have to compare. Jude was asked about me & he said, ‘No, I’m Bellingham’. He’s right.… pic.twitter.com/qkPSDozO6Q— Madrid Xtra (@MadridXtra) July 15, 2024 🗣️ Zidane: “UCL final in 2022 with Jude Bellingham? I remember perfectly. Seeing Madrid win another Champions League. He said he wanted to be there and do the same. In the end, there he is.” @TheAthleticFC pic.twitter.com/gLZLZ6gWxb— Madrid Xtra (@MadridXtra) July 15, 2024 🗣️ Zidane: “Did I know that Bellingham will take #5? I didn’t know. It was a surprise, but a good surprise.” @TheAthleticFC pic.twitter.com/SCDnuawGs5— Madrid Xtra (@MadridXtra) July 15, 2024
Jude's a winner with a winner's mentality. Not surprised the rest of his teammates don't appeal to him.
Southgate has been the best England manager since color television was invented but this place called him a primate and a Sunday league coach every other day when England played.
They should send him a gold medal and invite him to drop a promo at Cibeles with the Spanish team. Cause he's a winner like that.
At the same time Ornstein has been very well connected in the Premier league to the point where Romano basically abandoned covering it. I am not surprised that there's a bit of tension. Players at that level have the diva attitude.
Ornstein is great, but he's connected to PL clubs just like those covering La Liga have their connections to Spanish teams. Like Ornstein in 2023 outright said what City PR wanted when Bellingham chose RM. He said City weren't interested in him and that reports that he rejected City were RM trying to destabilize them before CL tie. That's when I understood even the most respect journalists would do PR work to keep the connections in their job.
The English media will build you up and up and up only to then try and tear you down and rip you up. I read somewhere on this, when you play with elite footballers under an elite manager like Carlo, your mentality changes and you have that confidence and arrogance about you to want to achieve more and more and be that guy. It’s a good arrogance, not a negative arrogance. Who cares if Jude hangs around with Trent? We’ve all been to camps where we click with someone more than others. Jude has been close to Rice, Henderson and Maddison. The Adidas Ad is out of Jude’s control and people are making up stories of how the other England players feel they are not important..ridiculous nonsense. Reports of his arrogance and his “lil bro” attitude when trying to life the mood of his team mates after the final by going to each one of them.
That’s what I’m talking about. Would be nice to see some focus on the positives. And I’m talking about the English media.
I hate anything and everything about the English media and generally listen to those independent journalists who don’t have a connection to a mainstream because their views tend to be balanced. I remember when newspapers published what they did about Beckham for his Red card in the World Cup - images of his hanging from a bridge in an England shirt etc etc. Social media wasn’t around back then, can you imagine if it was? All this Jude nonsense heightened by social media aswell.
I hear lots of positives about the England squad - i.e. their players. As far as I have heard, the negativity is mainly directed at Southgate. And rightly so, imo. Your job as coach is to get the most out of your players and he failed big time on that front. Even when players were criticized it was always under the caveat that they are tired and therefore Southgate should have rotated and used his subs more.
🚨Jude Bellingham on IG: Still trying to process the final but the overriding feelings are sadness and disappointment. The fact is that we came up against a great opponent and fell short, it hurts that we were so close to history and yet couldn't deliver for the England fans… pic.twitter.com/U6D27G7zpu— Madrid Zone (@theMadridZone) July 16, 2024
Jude Bellingham is England’s present and future. He has the competitive edge that #ENG need. He demands excellence. Good. Already in the four-man leadership group, a great talent, future captain, born winner, Bellingham deserves backing not doubting.— Henry Winter (@henrywinter) July 16, 2024
There you have it. Cover athlete of FC 25. I am 100% buying this game just for this. Bellingham on being featured on the cover:
It's crazy the reach his celebration got pretty much from his first goal at Bilbao. I think its the only celebration with recall value after Ronaldo's "Siu".
Him and Vini switched places in January. The frustration and inability with keeping it cool has to be the shoulder injury.
They dubbed it "Belligol". I like it. I already call him Jude Belligol. Even better is that the ultimate edition has 2 additional Real Madrid legends: Zinedine Zidane and David Beckham. The only downside is that these days EA doesn't release ultimate editons as physical copies. Which is not what I prefer. I want the tangible copy. Here is the trailer video for the game. Real Madrid players front and center of course. I like it.
