That has nothing to do with the discussion. Thinking that the arguably richest, most popular sports franchise on the planet, who's president has multiple political leaders in his phone book for direct contact is this sort of victim of circumstance is some really distorted vision stuff.
I understand where you come from as I take our victim conspiracy stances as over the top given who we are, our success, and our resources
Adidas made Bellingham the face of the brand for the tournament in English speaking markets. We're really missing the forest for the trees here.
I do find the backlash for the fingering a bit over the top but has his play really been criticized inappropriately to the other Brit stars? I don’t follow English media so I honestly don’t know
Assume by Britt you mean Brit, in this case English? Loads of players have been criticised for performances, Bellingham and Kane included. The absolute overwhelming majority of criticism has been for the manager, you all follow Real Madrid so its hardly surprising some of you perceive more of it is for Bellingham (this is probably how your social media algorithms work and what your naturally drawn to)
We have a bit of us against the world thing going here so I think we are fans with a chip on their shoulder with shield and swords ready to defend our players but yeah I didn’t think Jude was being unfairly targeted by the Fox coverage so thanks for proving England foresight
I don't see it as us against the world but u do get certain frustration. We consume English speaking media mostly and there is a certain homerism there. so lesser team at least of term of achievement get a lot more praise and attention. I m sure the spanish media and I can say that the Arab media is all over madrid. The other part where this sentiment comes is Barcelona, they had been media darlings and some of our players got the short end of the stick in terms of awards and attention while being more successful. Thus the concept of us not getting enough love.
There's several people in German media that want Rüdiger out of the team because of a statement he made in an interview (that they need to "kill the opponent right away"). Kroos commented on it, i didn't see it brought up here once even though it's been a major topic because people hyperfocus on nonsense and ignore anything else. These international tournaments are hot take microwaves. There's something going on every day about somebody that said something.
🗣️ Dietmar Hamann [ex-Liverpool & Bayern]: "Without his teammates, Jude Bellingham is nothing. Apart from his goals, he does nothing, he was not seen in the first four games. I want to wait and see where he will be in 2-3 years."🤦♂️🥱 pic.twitter.com/VXFM8OIfNJ— Madrid Zone (@theMadridZone) July 4, 2024
Ah another sensible supportive voice from someone not absolutely bitter and ate up with jealousy and hate
Hamann also said that: - "Harry Kane has achieved nothing in this tournament so far. The fact that England are still playing in the Euro has absolutely nothing to do with him." - "He's the by far highest paid player in the Bundesliga, if i would be working at Bayern i'd look closely right now whether he can contribute at this level for another three years" Hamann is doing the Skip Bayless routine for years now where he says the most agressive things you can imagine simply to attract attention. Having an emotional response to him says more about the person that does, than about him. That's what he's been doing.
This is the sentiment in the media against Jude; It’s his fault that England are not playing well, despite he’s scored two crucial goals - it’s his attitude, how he celebrates, blah blah….. but yes, 4x4 he’s not being singled out.
If you listen to talksport and Simon Jordan (who i've had some online interactions with when it comes to another topic) you're going to die stupid. Simon Jordan is also not "media". He's a shock jock, he's not a journalist. He's said Anthony Joshua is "soft" in the past. A heavyweight world champion that turns humans into dust. He's an idiot. Are you an idiot? If you're not, why are you listening to an idiot? This is also media, but you actively search negativity because you're drawn to it. You want to confirm your bias. You don't want to consume entertainment/information. You are seeking negativity to confirm your negative opinion. Very much like what politics has become. People seek sources that confirm their worldview.
How is this proof that English media are not hostile toward Madrid? If anything because Jude has the spotlight in a very reputable foreign club makes them colder to him. As in "why would he go play there when this is the best league in the world" kind of argument.
The 4x4 argument strategy is to disregard any evidence that doesn’t fit his narrative. An old screenshot of Kane and Bellingham in their club kits are not relevant to what’s happening now with the NT. Show me any article or video clip praising Bellingham in the last few days since the Slovakia game. you seem to forget that my original point was when England lose, Bellingham will take the bulk of the blame. You won’t see Saka or Foden get roasted, because they play in the EPL. Bellingham defied the English and is slowly becoming the pariah because he plays for RM.
My point of view, nothing at all new going on here, i'm not the slightest bit surprised, the best players always get the blame if the team isn't doing well, it's always happened through all the years i've been watching football, if Jude was a nothing player no one would be discussing him in any shape or form, positive or negative, i'm sure Jude will be fine and ready to fire on all cylinders come season start, we all think Jude is a better player than Saka and Foden anyway IMO all this discussion confirms that
You can't really claim for a fact that it wouldn't have been the same if he played for an English club since indeed he's their best player. But I disagree with 4x4s that being a Madrid player doesn't add some extra negativity. We've seen the likes of Mcmanaman, hes a representative example imo. You always want to stick it to the "establishment", and in footballing terms thats what Madrid is. The English don't see Bellingham play regularly, yet know he won the Spanish league and CL, so now they do their usual best player bashing, with a layer of "see Madrid are not that good, they wouldn't win the Premier league".
English want to push the best league in the world narrative and you can’t really be all that cocky about such a super duper awesome league when a team from another country is by far the best in the world. so it’s natural to hype their own teams and players and belittle ours in the process I don’t think it’s so much a Madrid hate agenda as it is a pro EPL agenda
Show me anybody praising England or Southgate during the entire tournament. The team has been universally panned. Why would they praise a team and players that are not playing well? Because you do this "HALA MADRID, THE GREATEST!" act here? You're a supporter, they are not. When we win and play well, it's being recognized by those that matter. You consume junk and complain about the smell.
lol. Bellingham has been the only one who’s been remotely good for England but gets the majority of the vitriol for the players. Southgate has rightly been getting stick. He hasn’t been the best player in the tournament but clearly the best for England yet he’s consistently being criticized ahead of Foden Saka and Kane. Again you’re showing clips of Jude from months ago. Show me the headlines from the last few days. The tide has turned, can’t have an “Englishman” have success with a foreign club. Especially a black one, A’rry he’s alright even though he’s with the Krauts!
https://www.theguardian.com/football/article/2024/jul/04/antonio-rudiger-germany-euro-2024-football “Footballer Rüdiger outs himself as a radical Islamist!” screamed a popular German right-wing YouTuber this week. “This man has no place in our national team,” declared Beatrix von Storch, the MP and deputy leader of the far-right Alternative für Deutschland party. “Islamism in the German starting eleven this evening,” wrote Julian Reichelt, the former editor of Bild and now the editor of Nius, a kind of equivalent to GB News. Then there was the member of the AfD’s youth wing, interviewed on television at the party’s conference in Essen a few days ago, who stated on camera that Rüdiger should be “expelled”. Not from the team, not from the camp, but from Germany itself. And before what promises to be the match of the tournament, a game that feels – one way or the other – like the crux of Germany 2024, a reminder that among this fiercely united squad, some players are playing for higher stakes than others." Some absolutely wonderfully enlightened people I'm sure.
