I just posted the song on the AC Milan board. It is my dream that one day this will be sung at the San Siro [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vAj5anhJRJg"]Oguchi Onyewu[/ame]
So Statman comes in with a full throated defense of Tim Howard in.... a Onyewu to Milan thread? Why am I not surprised?
i dont know if that was inadvertent or not, but i think we may have found gooch's new nickname once he moves to italy
I honestly think our boy is gonna get some serious playing time, but thats just because of Milan's situation in the defense. I was looking around and their number 1 defender retired at the end of last season. If anyone doesnt think he can compete at that level then your crazy. PS- Im on board for his new nickname to be Gucci, I love it.
The Milan depth chart looks like this. Senderos and Maldini are gone. 1.Nesta 2.Silva 3.Bonera 4.Kaladze 5.Favalli Onyewu could be anywhere on that list. I expect him to be 3 or 4 to start, and will move up if/when Nesta gets hurt. He should get some decent playing time with all of the midweek tourney games that Milan has. Bonera can also play on the right. Kaladze is injury prone as well.
Great for Gooch. As an Inter fan, I wish him personal success while his team flames out. I really do wish it was another team he went to.
Thanks for the response. You are now talking about the 2nd leg. I was not at all talking about the 2nd leg. Below is the actual quote that I was trying to clarify: Nowhere in that post did I say that he played well or poorly in either of those two games. I merely correctly clarified and documented that Onyewu did not play at all in the first of the two games mentioned --- a shutout where Standard Liege totally dominated Liverpool. It looks therefore as though Mr. Torres was possibly quite frustrated by Standard Liege and other opponents both before and after Onyewu was finally eligible to play against Liverpool in the second game. The entire Liverpool team seems to have been frustrated by Standard Liege in that first game if one uses the simply definition of "shutout" for "frustration". Using that generous definition, most defenses frustrated Mr. Torres in the Champions League and Champions League qualifying last season --- no biggie. He scored only 2 goals in 9 games --- goals against Real Madrid (2 games) and Chelsea (2 games). In contrast, Standard Liege (2 games --- one with Onyewu and one without him) Marseille (2 games) and PSV Eindhoven (1 game) did not allow him to score. Each and every opponent did this at least once in a rather weak Champions League year for Fernando Torres.
It is always fun to read statman's statistical somersaults. They are utterly irrelevant but they are amusing. Any comment on AC MIlan bringing on Onyewu, Statman? Or are you going to focus on the usual irrelevant B.S. you like to focus on?
after reading noshortcorners, it looks like Milan people absolutely hate this. Italian football is the black eye on the european continent.
This could be a wonderful thing or a horrible thing (for our WC hopes next summer). Gooch has been on a tear for the past couple of seasons. A bad season sitting on the bench would be a terrible blow to our back line. That said, I can't blame Gooch for taking this opportunity, and if it works out, then this could pay huge dividends on a lot of fronts.
