(This is to talk about the subject point(see link) but more to dicuss the motives and if this is the Premiership's greed going too far i think money is probably the most important thing in todays world however i do believe this is one step too far. BBC Sport understands that at a meeting in London today, all 20 clubs in the Barclays Premier League agreed to explore a proposal that would see the season extended by one round of matches, so that each team would play 39 games rather than 38 - with the extra round staged in various cities around the world. The idea is that the 10 extra games would be allocated to five different overseas venues, with cities bidding for the right to stage them. The additional fixtures could be determined by a draw, but with the top five teams in the League seeded to avoid playing each other. BBC Sport says it is unlikely that any decision will be taken before the Premier League's annual summer meeting in June. ................. The USA's National Football League pioneered a similar notion earlier this season by staging a game at Wembley in England, the first time a regular League game had been played outside the States. It was deemed a huge success.)http://www.goal.com/en/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=577376 I know this has been thought about for some time now but it really seems to be gathering pace, my main concern is other leagues will follow and make it even worse.
Hopefully UEFA will step up and halt this circus. Domestic leagues are "domestic", games played elsewhere cannot count for European qualification. And lol at the small clubs accepting this....you're in the middle of a relegation battle and get the very unneeded extra-draw against man utd, while your direct competitor lucks put and gets to play a much weaker team....also, what do the fans (real fans...not gloryhunters from Kentucky or Saigon) say?? How can they accept to see a game which could give your team crucial points being played abroad in no atmosphere whatsoever?? Where's the tradition gone?? And the players?? Are they happy to have an additional overseas fixture in the middle of the season?? In Italy I know for sure they wouldn't....but hey, the EPL has been money-over-football oriented for quite some time....this was bound to happen. I don't think the FA will be too happy, though....
Why did you post it if you don't want to discuss it? I really don't care what the EPL wants to do; it reminds me of the NFL playing a regular season game abroad. Might as well move the league to America. lol
I don't like doing threads, i shouldn't have done it, i was just angry at the premiership because this is going to make fifa and uefa hate us even more, kiss goodbye to the world cup now.
