OH god, hold Spoon back. Especially if we have close access to the field like in Milwaukee, this could be very entertaining.

I'll begin to explain, Spoon can clarify if I mess up...

Last year at the USOC game out at Blue Valley Q was playing like crap in the first half. Spoon, known to shoot his mouth off from time to time, let him have it at the end of the half. Q shot a glance over at our section, but just went off for the half. Q comes out, plays better, scores a goal and we win. All are happy and fine, right? Wrong! Q comes over to our section, starts yelling into the group demanding to know who called him out. Spoon is unaware of this, and Matt (ojsgillt) and I are trying to just get Q to go to the locker room. Spoon catches wind of this at a later time, and dislikes Q even more. Theres more, but thats the one specific incident. Spoon just thinks he sucks, I believe.

Sounds like Q put Spoon in his place and Spoon is bitter about it.

McKeon has a history of being an ass to his fans. Several of the people here remember my run in with him at MLS Cup. That along with the fact that he never seemed to give 100% when he was on the field are the reasons I (and perhaps Spoon) am glad to see McKeon go.

Interesting...I never knew he was THAT bad. Seems like a real hot head if he cant take some criticism, and then to ask who it was. Its also funny.

I think you only need to know Q's 2001 stats to figure out a part of the reason

    5 Goals (two were penalties)
    2 assists
    48 Shots
    22 Shots on Goal.
    26 games played/started
2300 minutes + played (second only to KZ)
    nuff said.

Well I should add that none of his goals were game winning goals, and that neither assist were game winning assists. He plain sucked it up, and picking someone out of the crowd for heckling a poor performance (even with a goal against a A-league team) is just unacceptable behavior from a professional athelete.

I think that was the only time in my life I've ever been scared of a professional athlete... Derek, Matt, Ben and myself were all down on the front row that game, and when Matt came up, we all first thought it was to give us "mad love." But he was pissed. Really pissed. He wanted to kick somebody's ass, and he didn't really seem to care who at that point.

I'd like to see how KZ stats match up to that?

Here's my story about Q. He was still at STL university. I was playing "B" level adult indoor soccer at the old All American on Bannister (now torn down).

The team we were supposed to play was a no show, so we got "the house team", consisting of hot shot employees, college players, etc. In other words, a mis-match.

Q was there training, saw that these "hot shots" were being *********************s, and the score was about to get out of hand. He came in for us as a sub. They didnt know who he was (I didnt either, but we needed help), and he helped us not only come back, but win.

He was capable of dribbling through the entire other team at will, they were also college players, and were no match. We were merely a supporting cast, but once it was tied, he never scored another goal, just helped us score. It was awesome.

I never knew it was him until I was at a Wizards game with some teammates from that night, and we were like "hey, that's that guy!". He didnt talk much that night, but he saw a wrong, and went over to "right the wrong".

Sounds like he was going over to Spoon to "right the wrong" then too.

Oh ya that is it. He needed modivating and I gave him some. He came out in the second half played alot better, I did my job. If I would have know he was down there being "Matt" I would have came down.

He is a jerk for that and the fact that he had alot of talent but pissed it all away with lack of effort or as Wade said "He is a lazy ass!"
Oh and I can't forget Mathis game winner at the Head in 99. Matt tracks Clint at the way to the 18, then stops and the ball get played to a wide open Mathis for the winner.

I'll agree that Matt was out of line for coming over there to challenge you guys. But you guys are Wizards supporters.

You know the old saying: "With friends like you, who needs enemies"

I disagree with the principle, but often don't act on it. I think we (not just the Mystics, all fans, although the Mystics are heard most) should be the teams first critics, and loudest. They know that by being there every game, living and dying by the results, and analyizing everything on BigSoccer that we know what we're talking about (for the most part). If I were a player the last fan I'd want jeering or criticizing me would be a Mystic, because they'd probably be right.

Now do I personally do that. Usually I try to stay encouraging, but I have on many occasions called out a player for lack of hustle. I think its one thing to simply not have the talent, its another thing to have it and not use it to its fullest. Lowe, Fabrro and McKeon are three guys that are very guilty of this. If a player doesnt have the talent it then becomes Bob and CJ's problem.

Spoon was right to get on Matt-I personally thought McKeon was good in 1997 and still O.K. in 2000. Last couple of years he really slacked off. McKeon sometimes is better suited to be an "enforcer" in a WWE match than to be a midfield player. His temper gets the best of him and you know it's bad when he gets pissed at a fan for speaking their mind. I tend to lose respect for players who won't "leave it on the field" sort of speak and that's why I'm glad to see him off the roster. Emotion is great if you can control it, but in Matt's case it has gotten him in trouble more often than not.

I attended a referee clinic by the referee team that did a Wizards game. They know the players; they also mentioned that every team has players you have to watch closely. They singled out McKeon as the Wizards' example.

    Sounds effective...

Hmmm, Q with a quick fuse?!? No, really.

The only time I remember wanting to go off at one of our guys was Snitko early on when he threw in the winner (through his legs of all things) in the USOC v Colorado. Then again, it's hard to argue with the results. Q was brutal that opening half. Maybe it helped him to find his game. For example, maybe an ignition of Fabbro at a given half-time might make him run a bit. Spark needs to come from somewhere.

Q is a hack, plain and simple. I'm not sure anyone can really argue that. His play on field was that of a bully, and his attitude was the same off field. he's a thug, plain and simple.

If MLS kept anything like the OPTA stats kept in the Premiership, Kerry Zavagnin would be extraordinarily valuable...lots of tackles won, lots of completed passes.

Booing is one thing, name calling is even ok, but it sounded to me like a personal attack. I don't know, I wasnt there. I agree with you to a point, no one knows their own teams faults better, but to personally attack an athlete in that type of situation is wrong.

Maybe it did motivate him, but more often than night, it's not helpful.

I told him he was crap and he needed to move his ass. Is that a personal attack?
