A striker. A fast creative poaching striker. Someone to run off of McBride and score the many, many goals that the US is capable of.

    Shevchenko. Or maybe Rooney.

A great right midfielder would work too.

Actually, I think Damian Duff would be a good addition. There are better players in the world, but I think he'd play well on the US team. Christiano Ronaldo would be interesting too...

The US could use Schevchenko, Rooney, Henry, or Eto'o to fill in until Eddie Johnson hits his full stride :D

Other than that... no real need. Perhaps, as tomwilhelm said, a Cristiano Ronaldo or a Damien Duff or a Joaquin or a Mauro Camoranesi as a right winger instead of Dempsey would be welcome as well.

Eto'o. Best striker in the world. Would form a great partnership with Pauleta...the second best striker in the world:D

    And Casillas or Buffon.

I really dislike Chelsea but....John Terry would be my first choice. There are fowards the world over but, a quality defender that moves well in the air is a true diamond. He works so hard, I cant think any one else who stands out as much as he does for me. Onyewu and Terry would just lay waste to the opposition.

Italy - they need a class CB to sub for Cannavaro or
Nesta should either get injured. Ledley King would be
    perfect, I think.

USMNT - a scheme-breaker like Messi, Ronaldinho, or
Cassano is needed. I watched the Jamaica friendly and
it struck me that very few of the players ever improvise.
Dempsey is the only one who can do that for the US and
    he is not first-choice, unfortunately.

I think every nation could use Ronaldinho. Every time I see him play I get surprised over his importance of existing

For England I'd take Ryan Giggs to play left side midfield, with Joe Cole to the bench.

I'd also take Henry - simply because to me he is by far the best strikers on the world at the moment - and he offers so much more than Owen.

Otherwise I'd have Campbell or Ledley King in for Fredinand, but that's an internal English matter.

Actually, Giggsy's knocking on a bit now, so make that Robben.

William Gallas...I think he would do really nicely alongside Lucio.

Isn't it better to wish for Juninho to bench Ze Roberto?

haha. maybe. although to be honest, it's nice to have juninho coming off the bench. he's hands down the best sub in the world cup. if we're having any issues in a game, he's our man to come on in the second half to energize us.

Why does Ze Roberto start over Juninho?

As the starter of this thread said Argentina needs a goalkeeper. I'd love to have a Buffon or Casillas in goal.

Of the leading contenders in this World Cup Argentina and Portugal have the poorest goalkeeping. It likely will come back to haunt both nations this summer.

I'd have to say Gerrard, Lampard, or Ballack. Canada doesn't have anyone that can really dominate a midfield, which is somewhat sad given the weakened zone we play in.

I agree, we're lacking a good partner for McBride. Henry would be ideal.

I like Crespo but Henry would do great for Argentina. I'd have Casillas as the GK. And Gallas would be there also. He's so amazing he could play anywhere in the back if needed.

Bench Ze Roberto? Are you even a Brasil fan?

Oh I get it, you want a midfield consisting of four Offensive Midfielders only

Personally, I'd love Carragher for Germany, that idiot Sven isn't starting him anyways so why the heck not? :D
