I love Rev Radio, and I like when Brad has journalists on (I usually skip his guests that are players for the creampuff questions). If you get the chance, you should listen; Brian Billelo confirms that an SSS is in discussions and they have to keep things private for complicated transactions as such and is looking for a 2010/2011 possibility. Then, Mike Wolitta from Soccer America gets on, and starts spouting how low the scoring is in MLS and wants to change the point system to what the NASL had. Wow, I was shocked by how poor his perceptions of the game were, IMO. His only valid point was that 8 out of 13 teams make the playoffs. Forget changing the points system - change the playoff system.
A possibility of what by 2010? An announcement? A ground-breaking? Actually playing in a new building?
I haven't listened this year. Does Brad actually let guests finish a full sentence now before interrupting to show off how smart/savvy/connected he is?
A stadium sited, financed, permitted, built and opened in three years? In Boston? He must be havin' a laff!!
I hope it's not the same kind of "discussions" they have when trying to sign new players. We all know how that goes. Lots of talk, no action
We passed on Guille, we've seen how that turned out, with us looking dumb. We passed on Denilson, and he signed a non-guaranteed contract with FCD and is scheduled to play on Sat. If he doesn't deliver in Sept-Oct, he doesn't get picked up for next year, so not much risk. We'll know soon how we look on that one, as well....
I finally listened to this show and the thing that killed me is Brian Billelo saying they can't market the Revs to sell more tickets until they get the infrastucture in place to handle the ticket salesFor ch**st sake what have they been doing for 12 years?
Getting the infastructure in place to handle increased ticket sales = "Putting together the desks we purchased for our ticket sales reps in 1996." In fairness, said desks were purchased "as is" at Building #19 3/4. There's some hardware missing, the ink on the assembly instructions ran when the boxes containing the desks were water-damaged and the Kraft family's only Phillips-head screwdriver was lost during the move from Foxboro Stadium to Gillette Stadium. In other words, Brian Bilello is keeping an eye out for a sale on desks at the Foxboro location of Ocean State Job Lot.
That's the most pathetic thing I've heard yet. They're just scrambling for excuses now. Imagine those words coming out of the mouth out of any other pro sports exec in this area. Un-freakin-real. Not advertising.
Do the Krafts own the land behind the Bass pro Shops they are building? Couldn't they fit a a nice 25,000 seater back there? Something like the bayArena would be nice, thank you.... http://www.worldstadiums.com/stadiu...nordrhein_westfalen/leverkusen_bayarena.shtml or even adding some seats to St. Johnstone's McDiarmid could suit our needs.... http://www.worldstadiums.com/stadium_pictures/europe/united_kingdom/scotland/perth_mcdiarmid.shtml
Those are like perfect for our needs. stop getting my hopes up. If/when our stadium is built, I would want it to be something like that. Maybe a stadium like those of the championship or lower prem teams would be ideal.
