Did anyone else see Grafer yoink that ball away from one of those ballgirls like a minute before the freekick last night? Grafer apparently wanted to get a feel for the ball before the kick and he asked the girl to give him the ball. The girl refused and just stared at him as she pulled the ball away to her chest. So then Mr. Pants just goes up to her and yanks it away, and all the ball kids around her are like "WTF?" Classic...Grafer is on his way to becoming the next Mike Ammann! Little goil...you've been Pantsed!
Our one, true highlight -- okay not counting the 1 or 20 times Timmy kept us in the match -- without a doubt. Welcome to New Jersey, little girl! Paulie brought you a touch of the Garden, how's it smell? Brought the house down at Nathan Hales.
Another bright spot: Petke didn't get a card to bring our total to 3 Metros suspended for the next game.
Grafer acknowledges the Power of the Pants in the Q&A section of his "Between the Pipes": http://metrostars.com/kids/pipes_qa.htm Name: Alex Question: How's it going? I wear pants all-season. Should I put my "shin-guard" socks on top of my pants? What's comfortable for you? Answer: Hey Alex, It's great to hear from a fellow pant-wearer. It's not an easy path to take, but you will definitely differentiate yourself from other goalkeepers and the attention isn't all-bad. After all, I enjoy "Graferspants.com" as much as the next guy! Not too many MLS goalies can say they have a website devoted to their pants. Regarding your question, I tape my shin-guards around my leg and tuck my pants into my socks. It might be a fashion faux pas, but it is the most common method used by goalies and I'm used to it. Being comfortable is the most important thing, so do whatever makes you feel that way. Good luck with your goalkeeping and your pants!
