Cry more. You’re nothing but a forum bully. People can’t be emotional because you have all the facts. Thx, Jay! Added to say I quit this forum for a couple years because of the mod allowing and participating in some pretty biased religious takes that have been deleted. So if bitching about a price gouge gets me a ban, know it’s from someone I’d also like to have on an ignore list.
I dont like the gouging. Its like toilet paper getting more expensive when it might snow or when everyone gets the flu, like a couple of years ago. But I will gladly take advantage of the Leo tax. If we do, in fact, get that game, and assuming Leo plays, my 2025 tix will be paid for as I hope/expect seats in 126 to go for $1000+ each (STM price is $250 each). Problem is, selling my seats means I might not be able to afford to watch the game in person myself. decisions, decisions.... I did ask my rep to pass on to the powers that be that STMs should also receive priority opportunity to purchase additional tickets. I 'splained how we used to get those opportunities and it is a small something the team could do for its actual best customers. And I would be okay with limiting priority purchase of additional seats to the number of seats in the STM account. That would help ensure there are still seats for general public and limit the amount of scalping by "brokers."
Considering the profit opportunity should it actually come to fruition, there's no reason for anyone to not buy those seats and either go or flip them.
On the one hand, that fücking sucks. Last time Miami came here it was essentially an away game. It still infuriates me to think about all the pink shits, sorry, *shirts* in the Chico Stand. On the other hand, DCU is almost certainly better away than at home.
So true. They just won away at two teams still alive for a playoff spot. This is why I’m extremely nervous about the Charlotte match at home. For whatever reason, they just haven’t got it done.
Exactly this. Anyone complaining is just doing it to complain. You’re either getting to see the GOAT in a critical end of season game or you’re making (at least most of) your money back for the entire season. Everyone’s calculus is different here (seeing Messi at face value, even if inflated, is still face value after all) but this is the definition of a win/win.
If you were planning on going to the friendly tomorrow, well, your evening just opened up. 1844420795185127685 is not a valid tweet id
Weren't there visa issues last year as well? The communication seems to put the eff up on the Organizers, not the club. Of course, this most likely is spin, but somebody clearly missed some deadlines. Bit of a shame because it would have provided the opportunity for Schnegg and Canouse and maybe Akinmboni to get some minutes in actual game situations.
DC email I received: Thank you for securing your tickets to the Capital City Africa Cup at Audi Field! We have just issued a press release with important updates regarding the match on October 12. Due to visa challenges for Asante Kotoko, the Ghana Week DC team will now play as the “Ghana Week DC Select Side.” This lineup will feature seven players from Asante Kotoko’s first team, along with standout talent from Attram De Visser FC, as well as other top Ghanaian players based in the U.S. With D.C. United preparing for their final regular season match, our academy players will step up to showcase their skills in this international game. We’re excited to see this diverse roster come together and highlight the best of Ghanaian soccer talent during DC Ghana Week. We look forward to an unforgettable evening of soccer and celebration!
Like you can't make this shit up. The incompetence of this organization, how it does its business, the people it chooses to do business with defies description. As @griffin1108 notes, they had this EXACT problem last year failed to foresee this same issue.
I received, this morning, an email from DC United advising me that tickets are still available for the Capital City Africa Cup at Audi Field on October 12! I replied to the email asking if they had been advised of the Ghanian team withdrawing from the match!
They’re still playing, it’s just the 7 guys who are already here, some players from another Ghanaian team and some local Ghanaians. Seriously.
I can ALMOST get this. After spending 2 months training with my son's U15 team over the summer, we couldn't roster 3 kids because they didn't know what freaking year they were born!! absolutely maddening, they assured us they were born in 2010, but when it finally came time for the paperwork, they hand me docs that say 2009. FFS. So, I can see players (and team admins) putting in applications for visas believing they are sure to receive approval, only to get disapproved pretty late in the process. And then appeals getting denied even later.... Experience with Russian/Chinese/Cuban athletes/performers notwithstanding - I am given to understand the visa approval process/criteria for athletes/performers is a bit less stringent than typical tourist/business visas. I guess YMMV. Still, when did they schedule this match? And when did they send in the applications? Announcing this the day before does seem a bit tardy.... maybe they were hoping there would be some last minute approvals....
Y'all seem to think that anybody associated with the team cared about this any more than we did. I would be furious if they DID care about it. Caring about the more important stuff is a refreshing change of pace.
The Athletic has a nice write up about Klich, primarily focused on his time at Leeds. Nice read and a good companion to Pablo's piece with Benteke.
Great read! On to Pablo’s piece now. I remember reading a bit about Klich when Marsch was at Leeds. Really didn’t favor Klich at all and it upset the fans a lot. Kind of mystifying but some coaches and players don’t mesh I suppose. I think I’d be okay with Klich back another year on a TAM salary but not as a DP. The back line desperately needs that DP spot. He doesn’t fit perfectly into a high press but I’m not convinced we’d find an upgrade of equal or better value in one offseason. Also, he shouldn’t be starting if the opposing team can expose his lack of speed(like Nashville did).
