In assessing Lesesne, well, he did this again. And it took him too long to switch to 4 in the back. Also, we continue to be undisciplined. On the positive side, Pirani is turning into a fine player. Even if he can only do this coming in at 60’, I’ll take it. If DC doesn’t make the playoffs, it will be because of the defending, not the attack. Our middle 3 of DM and 2 center backs is really poor. Fortunately, upgrading in those positions is pretty cheap.
You have to run out the same starting lineup and hope to be within one at the half. Then Pirani/Santos come on. They have been, gulp, difference makers lately. Also when getting the ball to Benteke at the top isn’t working (and it wasn’t all Zimmerman’s coverage) they need to drop him back sooner. Have him facilitate from the D. Badji and Dajome should be able to play off/play it back, right? Thx, Jay!
I've really been enjoying watching Benteke this season. In the pre-season I wondered if some near-top team in MLS could use a Benteke-type player to make a go of it this year (assuming they'd have something to trade for him.) Now that the season is nearly done, it looks like Seattle or one of the NY teams could have used him. Well, too late now!
Terd Leonsis talks about buying DC United - https://moco360.media/2024/10/02/meet-ted-leonsis-of-monumental-sports-and-entertainment/ Would be an upgrade over the vultures that own the team, but not by much. More of a turkey than a vulture.
From the replay, the stomp looked pretty obvious. I’m rather surprised VAR didn’t call it. At least they also fined a Nashville player for simulation. That goes unpunished far too often.
1. It was just a casual aside. I’m not getting my hopes up. 2. The idea that there will be 10 super cities, not 9, not 11, but 10, so the taxpayers need to get on board with him so Washington makes the cut…yikes.
Leonsis is less of a monstrous asshole than Snyder, but that bar is very low. Billionaire owners are not like us, they exist in their own rarified air of entitlement and self assurance. Watching Leonsis and Youngkin get schooled by an 80 year old former apprentice shipfitter when they tried to bamboozle Alexandria was schadenfreude at its best.
Leonsis schooled Youngkin and the DC council into granting him more real estate around the arena. If he buys the team, it will be more of the same. Don’t know how late to the game he is for snapping up and speculating on land in SE. I doubt he’ll threaten to move a team from a new brand stadium, but stranger things have happened. Whatever, United won’t be his favorite toy, but then neither the Caps nor Wiz are .
If you’re like me, you’re wondering about this odd feeling we’re having. Is it…hope? Here is the league sorted by last 10 games.
A win or draw gets us in. We *could* even back in with a loss. Then we get a play in game. If we win that one off, Miami come$$$$$ to town.

Hope they don’t advance to the 2nd round. $200+ per seat? I never even paid that much for the Caps in the SCF. Thx, Jay!
I dunno. Saying he hopes the team he doesn't go see in person anymore doesn't make the playoffs in a DC centric forum over playoff pricing he can't even get rubs me the wrong way. Edit: To clarify, complaints about pricing are valid. Hoping the team misses the playoffs because of pricing is not.
