There's been a lot of debate about the name "Victoria Street" for the Galaxy's new stadium. I want to know how many of you like or hate it. Personally I prefer Avalon Park or the NTC.
It is for me, and will always be, The Toolbox. One, because the stadium is named for Home Depot. Two, because it'll be filled to the brim with tools come June.
I maintain that I don't see how it's any of our business what nickname you decide to call your stadium. You want to give it an Anglo-pouseur appellation, go right ahead. Just don't expect us not to make fun of you for it. Or anything else for that matter. Things like this (a team's name, colors, uniforms, stdium/player nicknames, etc) are the bastion of the fans involved. I sure as hell wouldn't pay any mind to a SJ fan who tried to tell me what colors Chicago should be, or that we ought to call our stadium "The Alarm Box" or some s**t like that. Do what you like.
As long as it's remembered as the place where DC United won MLS Cup 2003, I could give a rat's ass what its actual name is.
DC will be known as the Victims on Victoria Street as the Galaxy will destroy them should they somehow manage to reach the MLS Cup Final at our home.
Stop me if I've used this line, but I'm gonna have to eat a couple of bran muffins in order to give a **** what you people think. Victoria Street, now and forever
Re: "Fields Of Dreams" i think that anything that is related to ManUtd can be throwed to garbage, so please, nothing of dreams in there please... of course, is just my opinion
We need to thank Home Depot for beeing kind enough to pay money to have their name put on a soccer stadium. call it HD center thats what it is named. victoria street sounds goofy anyway. by the way thats a sweet looking stadium from the pics i saw on the Galaxy site. it seems to be comming along great. but why such a small cheep looking scoreboard? st phil can do better then that im sure. oh well i look forward to seeing my Rapids capture MLS cup 2003 there.
The jumbotron electronic scoreboard goes on the north end - atop "Lalas Hill," and has not been installed at VICTORIA STREET yet. You are looking at the south end auxilliary scoreboard on top of the stadium club restaurant. Wait til you see it before you call it cheap or cheesy.
