10 minutes in, Hristo goes in with both feet on some poor kid. Word is they're hoping the kid will walk again.

Witnesses are saying it was completely uncalled for, blatent and malicious. Even Petke said it was "Ugly. Really ugly"

Time to get this piece of crap out of the league.

    Disgraceful.

The report in Soccertimes says that the kid could be back playing soccer in 6-8 weeks, which is the good news. The bad news, for DC anwyays, is that at least one AU Official was considering legal action.

This kind of crap will be the norm for DC United this year, I'm afraid.

Between Hristo and Dema, they have 2 hacks to rival most other hacks in the league :(

When Petke says it's an ugly tackle, it must be out there.

Reading the Soccer Times article made me sick to my stomach. I hope Hudson disciplines Stroichkov severely. Really, really awful. Makes me ashamed that Stoichkov wears the red and black.

Don't forget Marco, closing in on the all-time caution mark. Luckily McKinley is gone too or we would be finishing many matches with 10 or even 9 men.

I'm pretty sure that isn't the "veteran leadership" Hudson had in mind when he signed him.

    Haha??
    Wow.
Well, its nice to see that Hristo wasn't out to cripple the kid, just to seriously hurt him...

I am a DC United fan and I am outraged. Are we really this bad? Petke has to make a "professional" foul to save a goal and then Hristo gives a kid a compoud fracture because AU scored on us! We are going to be the laughing stock of the league this year if we can't even handle AU. This is really pathetic.

Let me tell you, AU Freddy won't be playing again for at least a year. I had a compound fracture from playing soccer. I was in the hospital for almost three weeks. There is a great risk of infection because the bone actually goes through the skin. They have to leave the wound open for at least a week and they pump antibiotics in there so that infection won't happen. Luckily my injury didn't get infected, but that is not the case with everyone..... To add to this, they had to put a plate in his leg, that is horrible. Most likely he will never be the same player again.

Of course Hristo didn't intend to break the kids' leg....he just intended to to take him out as an act of retaliation, to teach him a lesson, but that doesn't make his action excusable. It was an act of retaliation and he deserves what he gets. Hopefully, he will be sued, and, at the least have to pay court fees and understand that he is liable for his actions. He is a 39 year old child.

As far as Im concerned he is not a member of DC United, and I will not cheer for them, or even watch them, when he is on the field.

I hope Hristo gets what he deserves and I hope that Freddy recovers fully and can play again at AU.

They should consider legal action. No question.

I highly doubt he intended to break his leg. What the hell is wrong with you people. I have watched him play for the Fire for 3 years. Hristo plays hard. Accidents happen. Anyone who has ever played soccer knows that accidents can happen. People on here who think he intended to be malicious have never played the sport.

Unless he writes a book saying that he was out to injure the kid, I don't see it getting that far. The courts don't like opening these cans of worms about injuries sustained in physical sports... right or wrong.

Well, well. A little hysterical this early in the morning, eh?

Fact is that bad things DO happen to NFL players when they intentionally hurt people. A freak accident is one thing. Deliberate harm is something else entirely.

But don't take my word for it; here's Ray the Drunk:

It was a very, very rash tackle," said visibly distraught United coach Ray Hudson. "Obviously there is no excuse for it in any way. I just don't know what (Stoitchkov) was thinking.

    What he did is inexcusable...

Sorry, bud, but when even his COACH, the guy who's in charge of making excuses for him, says stuff like this, it ain't "run of play" injury.

    It's assault. And it's actionable.

As for me - I think he should be arrested. Maybe he won't feel so tough when he's keeping house for 300 bikers.

There is a difference between playing hard and retaliation. From the reports, this seems like it was retaliation.

Can people stop writing "he didn't mean to break the kids leg". Of course he didn't, but he meant to take him out.....People have to be responsible for their actions.

Take him to court! At least it will teach the 39 year old Bulgarian millionaire that he can't just get away with his little tantrums.

reasonable!!???!!!!! All I see are a bunch of morons showing the stupidty of greater america. Litigious freaks!
PLus did any of you ever read a sports law contract?? Every professional player is immune from being sued for this type of stuff. This is action that occurs during the normal course of the game! Therefore not an offense that you can sue for. End of story.

i must agree. this is disgraceful. i think hristo should be fined HEAVILY and suspended for several games. this is uncalled for, even if he didn't mean to do it.
