The funny thing for me was this: I was not at the game, but I saw the part of the game where Guerrero got subbed out while I was at a bar in Chicago. My first thought, of course, was of this thread.
Well, naturally! You're a plugged-in guy, hip to the scene. You're always on top of what's what and what's happenin'. I'm right, aren't I? (In the spirit of TMQ: feel free to use that in any online personals, as you have need. Say, "I've been called..." and just leave out by who.) New Business: Will anyone give me odds on Parkhurst?
I'm thinking that other than the goalkeepers, Parkhurst is the most likely guy to make it the entire season. He's not going to be called up to the national team, and he doesn't have any competition.
NORM: Gay guys are generally not old-fashioned. They're right on top of the latest thing. DAVE: Happening. They're happening. Right on top of the latest thing. That's right, Norm (Laughter). NORM: They're so ahead of things, they have sex and they don't even use a lady. So...so anyway...(Laughter) (applause)...
Chad Marshall was injured and didn't play tonight. 19 players left (7 goalkeepers) 2005 Candidates Ezra Hendrickson Simon Elliot Nat Borchers Joe Cannon Scott Garlick Bobby Boswell Jose Burciaga Jr. Jimmy Conrad Nick Garcia Bo Oshoniyi Todd Dunivant Kevin Hartman Amado Guevara Chris Leitch Zach Wells Jay Heaps Michael Parkhurst Matt Reis Pat Onstad
Finally, we have a new casualty. Jose Burciaga Jr. was subbed off tonight. Also, Jimmy Conrad and Matt Reis will be on the Gold Cup team, although Reis may still play for the Revs, I've heard. 18 players left (7 goalkeepers) 2005 Candidates Ezra Hendrickson Simon Elliot Nat Borchers Joe Cannon Scott Garlick Bobby Boswell Jimmy Conrad Nick Garcia Bo Oshoniyi Todd Dunivant Kevin Hartman Amado Guevara Chris Leitch Zach Wells Jay Heaps Michael Parkhurst Matt Reis Pat Onstad
Parkhurst and Heaps have a good chance of staying in the lineup for the season, IMHO. Neither is going to get called up, no better people to put in there... neither is injury prone (Heapsroven;Parkhurst;HOPE)
Lots of goals and chances being conceded lately so SN might look to rest some folks or shake it up a bit soon. With all the call ups these 4-2 & 3-1 wins could soon turn in to 1-0 & 2-0 losses. Just a thought.
http://www.mlsnet.com/MLS/stats/discipline.jsp I just saw that if Heaps gets a yellow card in his next game, he'll be suspended due to caution points (although if he doesn't get one, he'll get points taken off for going three games without one).
Also, Guevara is suspended for the Metros' July 4th match against RSL due to caution point accumulation.
Jimmy Conrad DNP due to the Gold Cup. 17 players left (7 goalkeepers) 2005 Candidates Ezra Hendrickson Simon Elliot Nat Borchers Joe Cannon Scott Garlick Bobby Boswell Nick Garcia Bo Oshoniyi Todd Dunivant Kevin Hartman Amado Guevara Chris Leitch Zach Wells Jay Heaps Michael Parkhurst Matt Reis Pat Onstad
If Boswell keeps playing like he did on Wednesday, his time on this list will be short from here on out.
I've noticed that Bo Oshoniyi looks like he has been on an all twinkie all the time diet... Simon Elliot looks gassed. He badly needs a rest. Ditto for Nat Borchers. Borch is torched. Lately Bobby Boswell has been slumping.
Amado Guevara missed the game due to suspension. 16 players left (7 goalkeepers) 2005 Candidates Ezra Hendrickson Simon Elliot Nat Borchers Joe Cannon Scott Garlick Bobby Boswell Nick Garcia Bo Oshoniyi Todd Dunivant Kevin Hartman Chris Leitch Zach Wells Jay Heaps Michael Parkhurst Matt Reis Pat Onstad
http://www.mlsnet.com/MLS/stats/discipline.jsp Leitch and Boswell are on the verge of being suspended.
