Just wanted to let my fellow Metro brothers and sisters that I met Big Mama at Banana Republic last weekend. I noticed him immediately, apart from the red hair, because he was wearing a Mathis #11 USMNT jersey. He was with what I assume to be his wife (very pretty woman), baby son, and cousin (?). I just mentioned that his cross to Faria was beautiful, and that I was surprised that he played the last 30 mins. of the match. His ankle was bandaged, and he responded that he was surprised...he didn't think that he could play last Thursday either. I also asked him if Clint was walking around the city wearing his jersey...he laughed, and I think he said that Clint had given him the jersey as a gift...he added that Mathis isn't wearing his jersey...yet. He was completely unlike what I expected. He was very nice, and not at all arrogrant. But the best part was that after talking w/ Big Mama, I was walking around the store when one of the employees approached me. "Who is that?" "Mamadiou Diallo" "no way!...really? wow, that's amazing.." Me -- thinking to myself...this clown has no &&%! idea who Big Mama is...probably thought he played for the Nets. Classic.
I appreciate it Mike. But seriously, don't you think more New Yorkers know of the Diallo that was shot 40 something times than the one who plays for the Metrostars? The Boss never wrote a song about any MetroStars forwards...
and what about the "they shot the wrong diallo" chant so prevalent in 101 until earlier this year? that was ridiculously offensive and insensitive as well. sh!tcago fans don't have a monopoly on ignorance.
I just suprised that you could understand anything he said. With that strong accent of his, i never understood him during an interview.
Re: Re: Re: On Meeting Big Mama Couldn't be worse then Esa Tikkenan...only guy I ever heard combine english , finnish and sweedish in one sentence.
