Actually there's another thread about this elsewhere on BS. I cannot remember where offhand, so I'll give a quick synopsis of the article I read. GolTV is the beginning of what could be a major force in soccer on television. It's starting as a combo of primarily Spanish language broadcasts of Serie A, La Liga and MFL games. It plans to show every Real Madrid game either live or rerun depending. Some games will be broadcast in English, and there will be highlight shows in both Spanish and (planned) English. Some things will have SAP (Secondary Audio Program) to allow multi-lingual programming. Eventually they are hoping to grow the channel into a network of two channels, one in English and another in Spanish. They plan to follow the National Teams of all of North, Central and South America, and in addition they want to show youth games such as the US U-20 and US U-17's. Their aim is to become a pure soccer channel. Their goal is not to wrestle Fox Sports World from FSW, but rather to put as much soccer on TV as possible. They're hoping to anchor the channel with the Spanish language broadcasts of La Liga featuring Real Madrid, and lots of Serie A. Because of the primary focus on Spanish language broadcasts, I believe it's being positioned in one of the Dish Network's Spanish language packages, but I cannot recall which one. This will be year 1, and if all goes well, we can expect expanded reach in the coming years. They're interested in everything soccer, including MLS, but they've got to become fiscally viable before beefing up their English language coverage. I can see several great avenues for this channel, and I think it's very exciting. One way MLS could really position itself for exposure into the Spanish market here in the US would be to get a game or two a week and a highlight show done exclusively in Spanish if this channel takes off. Coupled with the FSW English games, the local coverage and the Soccer Saturday Disney networks coverage, we might get a significant amount of games to a diverse group of audiences. If MLS could get it's games on GolTV and enable SAP for both English and Spanish, that would be great. I'm still waiting for a SUM-run Soccer Channel, but getting on FSW and now the emergence of GolTV is really a great thing. -Tron
