Did you catch Sky asking McCarthy about Kean and Sunderland.... McCarthy was getting more than bit ticked off... He said he would not comment about 5 times during some kind of incoherent mumbling rant in response to the question. It was not one Mick's better moments.

This is going to be very interesting.

    1. Roy Keane doesn't need to lead Sunderland to promotion to prove he's done a good job. So long as they play proper football or play with great spirit and determination and stop free-falling, he'll have been a success - relatively speaking.

    2. Roy Keane doesn't settle for being relatively successful. It means he'll either make them very good (realistically speaking) or make them average and he'll leave in a huff and puff session cursing everything in his path and probably pick up a job at a better club. OR he won't be able to inspire them at all and the team will continue to be a failure and he'll have to try again with a shite club.

Interesting bit from the press conference today:

We'll see how it all comes to fruition for Keane.

Roy Keane's press conference today was brilliant. The urge to start chanting KEANO-KEANOOOO at the TV was strong. He has the 'masked' air of a psychopath who is one bad comment away from genocid'ing' the whole room :D He has charisma, no doubt about that, and as always, he had a lot to say on the issues that needed addressing. He's under no illusions and that's what makes the whole thing even more fascinating.

I think he'll be the kind of manager who will take a hit to the chin if he feels he is to blame for a bad result - in fact, the managerial game might consume him like he has done to Sparky - but woe betide those who he thinks are slacking off... volatile will just have an image of Keane as the description in the dictionary. Any player worth his salt should want to perform for Keane, want to meet and match his standards to the best of their ability and prove they are men he can't get the better of. He's basically said he wants people to stand up and by counted, and even non-league players can do that much. The skill level at the club might be shite, but I think that isn't his first priority. The first thing Keano will do is strip the club down and rebuild it from top to bottom.

Remember Saipan? He made sure to mention that he had a good check of the facilities and the inner workings of the club before taking on the job, and I think he'll make it crucial for his charges to be as prepared mentally and physically as he was - God, if he gets it right tactically, his teams will be an absolute horror to play against because they will go to the 94th minute with the intensity he demands. I expect a lot of scraps if the quality isn't good enough. A win is a win, and that will be more important that style for a while yet. A lot of those players would reaily acknowledge that playing for or ever having proffessional contact with a player of Keane's stature will be the high point of their career to date - I expect a lot of those players will be ready to run through walls for him... again, if he gets the tactical side right, his teams will be just horrid to play against. Horrible.

You either love or hate the man, he's going to win over a whole new set of supporters during his time there. They were singing 'Keano' when he was in the stands t'other day, which was a bit wierd. I still regard him as a ours so hearing them chant our guy on like that was quite surreal.

It's going to be fun to watch, can't wait! :D

With Keano, wouldn't be in the least bit surprised to see Sunderland in the premiership soon enough.... and

FOR THE 20TH TIME, READ KEANE'S AUTOBIOGRAPHY.

Yeah, we reported that last night and truth be told I thought it was a bit strange, but it will certainly prove interesting. Not sure where Yorke will be deployed. He can still pull the strings as a #10 but he'd probably be of more use further from the goal building the play and breaking up the opposition's attacks as he did for T&T.

I'd be glad to be rid of Miller. Maybe we can send Fletcher on loan to Sunderland too :D

But on a serious note, I wonder if Jones, since he seems to be in Fergie's shitbooks, might be useful at Sunderland. Jones/Yorke CM pairing would be the most technical in the Colaship by a mile.

He's going to be a legend at Managing. I don't care what anyone says. Its damn near impossible to start a job on Monday and then sign any players by Thursday, let alone a half dozen. Incredible.
