The door is Wide open for the MLS to jump in and get Bravo. This would be HUGE!! He's still in his prime, still has lots of football left in him. Only downfall is this character, Very selfish. But hey, He will sell tickets in the MLS, just like Cua Blaco. What cha guys think?????!!!!
Eh. Not a huge fan of Bravo, i think he's too small to be a top striker in MLS and while i will conceed he has talent i doubt many MLS teams will be willing to break the bank for him. He may be better as a withdrawn striker or even a #10 in MLS.
Omar Bravo is not even close to being the star attraction that Blanco is. And I just don't see him as being a very big draw in MLS. Does anyone really think that CD Chivas USA could sell 5,000 more tickets per game with him in the side? NO WAY! The other thing is Bravo doesn't like Americans. And he doesn't respect our futbol. Which is the exact opposite of guys like Paco Palencia and Claudio Suarez. Those two players embraced our culture and our futbol and have been successful in MLS. They saw MLS for what it is. Which is a developing league. But they gave it respect. And I think that Blanco is taking the same approach.
vdelgadillo77, what prompted you to start this thread? Is Bravo's contract almost up? Did Chivas decide he is expendable? Or is he just unhappy? I haven't been following the MFL press lately. Can someone explain why "the door is wide open"?
How do you know this? I'm curious. Not saying it isn't true, I just havin't read or seen evidence that Bravo hates Americans and doesn't respect of soccer. If it's true I don't want him here. However, if it's just specualtion I would welcome a player of his skills and of his caliber to MLS.
I heard on EPSNDeportes that Vergara is done w/Bravo & Negotiations. He will not extend his contract. Bravo Will be a free agent in June, after the Clausura Season.
Neither party was happy with the extension contract offers, the coach doesn't want to deal with Bravo's attitude, and he (Omar) refused all offers thus far from Europe (which included Portugal, Germany, Spain, and Netherlands IIRC). So he will be a free agent, and I believe would be a huge draw in Houston, Chicago, and LA, maybe Colorado...however I just don't see him coming to MLS. I think he's out of the price range of the teams that he'd make sense going to (and the fallout out with CD Guad might put a clamp on any possible move to CDCarson). I predict another Mexican team picking him up or maybe even an SA team...if he is picked up by an MLS team I would be slack jawed, to say the least. As for him hating Americans and disrespecting US soccer...BULLSHIT! That was pulled out of your ass son, and you know it. The Mexican players who have come to MLS (most of them anyways) have GROWN to respect the league after coming to actually play here.
The teams with a DP slot, I think, are SJ, KC, Houston, Colorado, TFC, Utah and NE. I'm not sure about Dallas. KC and SJ will be playing in microstadiums, and TFC sells out, so none of those 3 teams make financial sense. Houston isn't interested. I doubt NE would go for a Mexican, given the area demographics. Colorado makes alot of sense, as does Dallas. I don't know about Utah.
I don't have a source for you. I just recall comments that have been attributed to him over the years. I don't speak spanish, so I can't verify. Maybe some of our Mexican American friends can provide some additional insight.
he's definitely not on the level of blanco would be good to see him come to MLS though.. i don't think he'd generate the level of fan support blanco does though..
Where did you get this from? Omar Bravo would never go to the mls, I really don't think that he would go to the mls only if Vergara transfer's him but Omar would be very mad, he even said that he is more Chiva than anyone in the world. Who knows maybe when he is headed to the end of his career he might join Blanco
You obviously know nothing about Omar. So don't even attempt to speak for him or say what he feels or thinks as you're not even close.
Well one of the problems for not extending hes contract was a deal to make him go to chivas Usa when the board of Chivas would see fit.
Did you even read pjohnson's post? Edit: Never mind...you went back and read it, albeit belatedly but still...
As I stated in my second post in this thread. I based my statements on comments that I recalled being attributed to Bravo. I admitted that I didn't have a source. I then asked for additional insight from our Mexican American friends. Which you have now apparently provided. Thank you for setting the record straight. I'm very happy to hear that Omar Bravo not only likes Americans, but also respects our futbol.
I am full American but my company has an office in Guadalajara. My best friends there are the Claudia, the mother of Omar's daughter, her sister Liliana, and their mother, Rosalba, so I get a lot of info even when I don't get to speak directly with Omar. Through them, I grew to be a fan of Chivas. To set a few other things straight, either he gets an offer from a team in Europe (first preference is Spain) or he stays with Chivas. He will not play for any other team in Liga Mexicana. But getting a European team to put up enough money is not easy. The problem with going to Chivas USA, was that it was a hidden clause in the new contract that would allow Vergara to send hin there any time he wanted, with Omar having no say in the matter. But would he sell tickets??? BET on it!! Plus Vergara would control the rights and money to his photographs and appearance fees. Can't blame him for not wanting to sign the contract when he found out. Good news for you MLS fans is that Bofo Bautista would be interested in playing here...light years beyond Blanco in skill and style.
I thought I read that Chivas had a policy of not selling their players to other Mexican teams and only to European teams.
Yeah, but is Bravo worth DP money? He would probably be a decent fit in Chivas. But I don't know if his signing would make sense financially or strategically anywhere else. FCD has a ton of young talent all throughout their midfield.
