As long as he isn't overly fatigued from playing for Charlton, it's most likely that he will be picked. Especially since it looks like Chen Tao won't have a chance in hell of making the squad, having not played a competitive match for many months now.

The situation with Chen Tao sounds fcking bad. It's a shame. He would've been a important member of the squad if not the most important.

Yep, he was awesome in the Toulon tournament and arguably carried us into the final. Besides his accurate long passing, he is also very good at set pieces.

I wonder who will take freekicks now? I hope its Hao Junmin.

Mm, he rocked in that tournament. Is it 100 % sure that he will not play in Beijing?

I just did a search for news on him, and it seems like he is in Switzerland right now. He phoned his dad (i think, the article was with quotes from his dad) and said that China is in a good group, and that they are fully capable of beating Belgium and New Zealand to qualify. He also said that he is working hard, and will do his best to make the final Olympics team training camp at the end of May. I think he is doing trials and training over there in Europe to keep fit.

In theory a great group for us, though i don´t really know how strong each nation is at olympic level. I believe we can fight out for the second spot of course Brazil being favorites. At a first glimpse i think we have the easiest group of the east asian countries, (China, Japan and Korea). Though i´d like too see us all advance through our groups.

I think that China will advance in both groups.

The women's group looks tough. Are the Argentinian women's team any good?

Definitely not. They lost against Germany 11-0 during the World Cup.

True, but it appeared that some former East German swimming team pseudo-women look-a-likes or men played for Deutschland. ;-)

China lost to Germany 0-8 at the WC not too long ago... we are hardly a powerhouse ourselves anymore.

Lol. Hold on, are we using the under-23 team like most nations do during the Olympics or are we using the Senior team. Cos Zheng Zhi cant play for the Under-23's for OBVIOUS reasons. I can see us beating New Zealand, Belgium, not so much and Brazil (LOL). Pato is going to own us with his dazzling fantasmaggazzle.

3 overage players are allowed in the Olympics, although for some reaosn the chinese media keeps speculating 4 players to be called up (Zheng Zhi, Li Weifeng, Han Peng, and someone else, I think Du Zhenyu?).

Even Argentina who are already very strong, always takes some of their best players like Demichelis and Riquelme.
