Olympics: 2000 vs 2004 Compare and Contrast

    2000 team:

    Forwards: Casey, Wolff

    Midfield: Albright, Vagenas, O'Brien, Olsen

    Defenders: Hejduk*, Califf, McCarty, Agoos*

    Goalie: Friedel*

    Subs: Donovan, Victorine, Di Giamarino, Whitfield, Dunseth, Corrales, Howard

    2004 team:

    Forwards: Buddle, Donovan

    Midfield: Beasley, Martino, Clark, Quaranta

    Defenders: Cherundolo*, Onyewu, Bocanegra*, Gray

    Goalie: Howard*

    Subs: Casey, Johnson, Convey, Mapp, Beckerman, Lewis, Yi, Countess

    *Overage

    This is just a rough guess on my part on what the 2004 Olympic team will look like more or less. Feel free to add or subtract players for your own purposes.

    Basicaly it looks to me that the 2004 team has the potential to be the better squad (especially offensively) at least on paper. This bodes well for them since the 2000 team finished 4th and played exciting, wide open soccer in the process.

    I'd just like everyone's opinion on which squad is better and analysis on the comparative strengths and weaknesses of these two teams.
