Welllllllll, congrats to my Chiefs for winning their quaint little league. So happy for my family and friends back home. I caught the postgame trophy presentation where their Commissioner proclaimed them as "World" Champions??!!?? A bit presumptuous aren't we.

I am acutely aware of a certain Women's National Soccer Team that has without doubt conquered and are true Champions of:

• the World
• the Galaxy, and
• the Universe (both known and unknown)

Interesting tidbit: FIFA has a little known Federation called the Confederation of Football Associations in the Remaining Universe (or CONFARUNI). And it states in a little known subchapter of the FIFA Bylaws - "Any Team from the CONFARUNI need only present itself to gain automatic qualification to any Tournament".

FACT: To date, No extraterrestrial team has had the balls to show up and take on OUR Women.

Our outstanding women's team has courage but doesn't have "balls" (apart from soccer balls). Perhaps some extraterrestrial team with courage but without "balls" will show up to take on the U.S. women.

 

I really enjoyed the 1 Gridiron game I watch every year.

That said I’m gonna try and stay awake tonight here in Berlin cuz I found a Russian channel in my hotel that is playing our match.

They seem besotted with this team.

It's about 5:00 minutes before kickoff. I actually hope that Costa Rica can mount a little more resistance than either Hatti or Panama. The US needs a bit of a challenge to be ready for the semis.
Edit: I also hope that anyone that has not played gets in including the third goalkeeper.

I am a little disappointed but we will see how the subs go I would like Franch to get at least a half.

Costa Rica is better than Haiti or Panama, but they are not starting their A lineup. The US isn't either, or maybe we are. Its hard to know what Vlatko's A lineup is yet.

 

That was a strange kickoff alignment they were severely overloaded to the left.

It looks like we might be facing our first bunker in this tournament. At least Costa Rica is getting nearly everyone behind the ball. They are coming out fast however so it might not really be a bunker.

We are still having trouble with drifting offside. Staying onside is one of the easiest soccer skills there is yet the US, currently best in the world, cannot master it.
