Two articles from mlsnet columnists on the Rapids in a week. Rapids fan will rejoice! ;)

Put Chung back out on the left where he belongs. Put Carrieri up top where he belongs. Get a constant back 4 so they can become a cohesive unit with their limited skills. You don't have to have four Rio Ferdinands to have a good defense. Let Beckerman pair with Pablo on a consistent basis to see if he can produce; if you pair Pablo with Hart, neither is capable of going forward enough or producing offensively. If Roberts is injured, hopefully Schmidt will regain his preseason scoring touch.

The Rapids were a few inches from going up 1-0 a couple of times on Saturday. Like Oliu says, they played well 'til they gave up the goal. All they have to do is finish in the top 4 of their division to have a shot at repeating their run in 1997 (however unlikely). It's too early to panic but it's not too early to bring some consistency to the team and let them learn and grow together. If Hankinson doesn't provide - or isn't providing, more likely - a steady hand, drop him like so much depressed Qwest stock, and bring in Dir to straighten the mess out. The players have to believe in the coach and if they stop doing so, they stop believing in each other. THEN there's no hope. There's still talent there. And there's still time.

Maybe Counce will make them wear their 1997 uniforms to inspire the team to those great heights.

Wes Hart is the MLS version of Luke Chadwick.

Just wanted to drop that in there.
