So, I used to go to (almost) every Metrostars game in 1999-2004. ans sat with ESC. But I haven't been to 101 since 2004. I guess, I'm both an oldie and a newbie.

This year, I bought the ESC pass, and purchased tix to Philly game (for starters).

My question is - has ESC changed much in 5 years, in terms of style and songs? I iamgine some of the fan favorites (like "Everywhere We Go" and "soy del Metro") are still going strong.

What about some of the more vulgar stuff? Like "Who the #$%!'s DC United?" or "Pedo--ile"? Are some of those still around, or are they gone?

Basically, just trying to understand if I'm in for a surprise, or if the style is similar to years gone by?

    Thank you.

The biggest change is that we're much less negative toward our own players than we were in the first half of the last decade. We're trying to shake the New York impulse to eat our own the moment there's a hint of weakness.

"Soy del Metro" is still one of the 101 standards. Others that are in our repertoire are "Super Metro," linked here, "Come on Metro," "As long as I'm breathing/We hate United," “Senores Yo Soy De Metro,“ and “Metro Mi Buen Amigo.”

We've added "[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9LVM8TkcrpM"]Vamos Metro[/ame]," "[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5AMU08md5k"]Forza Metro[/ame]," the chorus from "[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WI2NYRhlM30"]Take 'em All[/ame]," and a few others that you'll pick up pretty quickly as well.

Our only "set pieces" are "We Love Ya," which we do on the first kick of each half, "[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZDUj6_KgCqM"]Wipeout[/ame]," which is done at the 44th and 89th minutes, and "[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wMD7Ezp3gWc"]I Wanna Be Sedated[/ame]" which is done at the 66th minute (with some modified lyrics). "Here We Go" is done for every corner kick.

Unfortunately "Everywhere we go" is still part of our songlist, but there are a number of us trying to kill it dead. :D

Big Brother frowns on organized vulgarity, but chances are the songs you mentioned (as well as a few others like "Baila Metro Baila") will be sung at some point or another.

Slightly different, but similar enough that you won't find it hard to keep up. Just bring it for 90 minutes and you'll fit right back in just fine.

I think that except for a few new songs, 101 is basically the same. Some people sing "Red Bull" and some sing "Metro," and the official club policy is sing whichever you want.

The biggest difference you will find is the stadium. The supporters are spread out vertically instead of horizontally. Also there are lots of real newbies in the section. Some are new supporters, some are just curious, and some are only there because they were the cheapest tickets. So 101 will be more crowded than you remember from GS, but there may be a lot of people who don't "get it."

But ESC's style is still really the same, and like Matrim said, if you sing and jump for 90 minutes you'll fit right in.

Thanks for responses, guys. Seems like it won't be hard to fill right in. Does Metroflip still have the most booming voice of the bunch, or did a new talent spring up to overtake him?:)

Stop by and [re-]introduce yourself. Get back in the swing of things. Exact center of the section. Not far from the drum situated and the guy with the 'hawk.

Section is going nowhere but up. Now it's time to form motherf'ing Voltron up in this.
