I see the Crew won (congrats!) the crystal bowl.

What happened to the older US Open Cup, the silver trophy DC United won in '96? Was it retired?

This is what happens when your team stops winning trophies, you lose track.

    Thanks. Just curious.

Yeah, the old trophy had that "old trophy look", like the Stanley Cup or something.

At one point, before MLS got into the Cup, it was retired. Then it was cleaned up, unretired, and a few MLS teams won it and had it presented to them. DC got it once, Dallas got it. Chicago did. I loved those photos with the teams with it.

Then for some reason that I can't remember, it was retired again. It might be at the US Soccer Hall of Fame.

I personally HATE the crystal bowl. I REALLY want to see the Dewar Trophy back.

I wonder if the change has something to do with the tournament being changed to the Lamar Hunt Open Cup.

If that's the case, it sure would be nice if someone could convince Lamar that having the Dewar Trophy doesn't make his importance and our appreciation of him any less.

The new trophy looks like something you dump halloween candy in.
