Hello folks Anyone know a bit about the emblems Blackpool have used over the years and where I could find nice images of them?
Not 100% sure but I think there have only been three club crests. The one used now which is the one used for most of the clubs history, is the town crest. One was a very simple one with a (very simply drawn) tower and "waves" to indicate the towns location as used between 1979-1987 and for the 1988-89 season. In the 1987-88 season a different crest was used which I think had a seagull on it. The main town crest has mostly been used, apart from the very simplistic, "BFC", which was used in the early 1970s. This site contains all the kits the club have used throughout the years with the crests on the shirts http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Blackpool/Blackpool.htm As you will see the tangerine shirts were first introduced in 1923. The 1933-38 dark blue and light blue striped shirt has been used a number of times in the last 20 years as an away kit.
Thanks for the info. I'll see if I can dig up any other examples and will post them here if I can. That 1914-1915 kit was spectacular!
Was this the one with the simple tower/waves combo? http://youthinkweprint.eu/images/763381_5121203_1_huge.jpg Also found this old one http://www.weltfussballarchiv.de/fcblackpool_old.gif
Yes that is the Tower one. The second one is just a version of the one now used and mostly used. I've got some I will post.
And this just for a bit of fun -- This was apparently WWE wrestler, William Regal, in his office where he has his Blackpool crest! And this because I think it's funny!
