And here's an update on the process as of today: http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansascity/16748971.htm
Very good news on that update. Of course, i'd love for the Wizards to stay in MO, but so long as they stay in KC metro, I am good with that.
The wouldn't be going through the clarification/verification process just for the fun of it. The Rock actually mentioned this on the Johnny Dare show yesterday during their little news segment with Koogan. He jokingly commented on the fact that the Bass Pro Shop (opening that night) and a Soccer facility were probably polar opposites on interest and crowd profile spectrum. Hopes Olathe would have the sense enough not to put them next to each other.
If I remember correctly what had been targeted for the area around Bass Pro was the indoor arena that never got off the ground. The location I've been hearing discussed a lot is the Great Mall.
i know nick jordan - he's been best friends with my parents for 30 years. he's VERY in favor of the soccer stadium happening, so he'll be doing his best to make this possible for olathe.
If they want to get the stadium up and running by April 2009, they better start revving up the bulldozers and get to work on tearing one of these down, if that is the plan. I sure hope we hear about a finalized deal about the location within the next month or two.
