Oklahoma City, In the Press Inside Tucson Business I had the good pleasure of being part of a group of local leaders who recently spent two days in Oklahoma City for a briefing on what has to be one of the best examples of urban and economic renaissance in our country’s history... ...What happened in the 20 years in between those two contrasting events is amazing. At the center of the turnaround was a series of projects called Metropolitan Area Projects. The first project turned a dingy, decaying, blighted downtown filled with abandoned 1920s-era brick buildings into an entertainment, arts, culture, restaurant and nightlife mecca called Bricktown, complete with a San Antonio-style canal complete with gondolas. Right next to Bricktown is a new stadium for the city’s AAA baseball team. Two blocks away is the convention center and the hotels necessary to make the convention center work. Next to the convention center is an arena where the Thunder NBA team plays to sold out crowds every game.--Inside Tucson Business http://www.insidetucsonbusiness.com...0-4d7f-11e3-9af3-001a4bcf887a.html?mode=story
That's a good read. I feel very fortunate that I have lived in OKC during the turnaround. It's been great to see, and be a part of. It now makes me proud when I travel and tell people I'm from Oklahoma City.

Unconfirmed, but hearing from source that new NASL team in OKC will not be starting in 2015 as previously announced.— Brian Quarstad (@IMSoccerNews) January 8, 2014
I don't get past the "Unconfirmed," word. Yesterday was a day of so many rumors all across the world dealing with soccer/football. Be calm OKC
I'll get upset when they actually announce that the NASL team won't be starting in Oklahoma City in 2015.
Be calm guys, I'm as passionate as they come. Some on this board have seen me in action at games haha but calm down.
That would actually be prudent. Having now actually heard the supposed reasoning and the supposed source of said rumor, I would say waiting for further information would be the way to go.
Don't you think I'd have done that if I cared to? All I know is what the rumor is. But I have neither the time nor inclination to check it out. That's why I didn't say "You should believe this" or "You shouldn't believe this." I said, "Waiting for further information would be the way to go," because there's no reason I can see yet to go stressing about it.
So true! The rumors out there are like 'Girls Gone Wild!' They are running rampant at this stage. Let's wait for something official on all of this innuendo and false alarms going off all over the soccer environment. My blood is in such a tail spin that they could extract plasma right off the top (LMAO).
I heard a rumor from a reliable source that MLS is going to buy USL and NASL and they are going to institute Promotion and Relegation. Can't really say any more right now but I just wanted to throw out an egregious rumor and walk away...
Meanwhile, in the "Duh, like nobody saw that one coming" catagory... http://www.austinchronicle.com/sports/2014-01-10/soccer-watch/ And, in a surprisingly snarky choice of kits, Sonny Dalesandro's "Tulsa Tea Men" will be playing the PASL's Tulsa Revolution in the US Indoor Open Cup Round of 32 on Sunday morning... the unis look alot like this:
Downtown Oklahoma City office market thriving... ...Funding a new arena, charting Milwaukee's next play. "The Devon Energy project serves as the most dramatic example of the private investment that has accompanied a planned $1.7 billion in public investment in civic projects funded with a 1 percent sales tax. Tim Sheehy, president of the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce, believes the Oklahoma City model can be replicated — in part — in Milwaukee as he prepares to launch a task force on funding a Milwaukee NBA arena and likely funding other Milwaukee cultural assets" http://www.bizjournals.com/milwauke...own-oklahoma-city-office-market.html?page=all
