Yeah, it is getting out of hand, since NONE OF THIS HAS ACTUALLY HAPPENED YET! What is getting out of hand is all the wailing and gnashing of teeth based on preliminary negotiations that are taking place in the Spanish-language media.

I honestly can't understand why so many people get so bent out of shape, and completely ignore the statements from various MLS officials that this will not happen. It's as if they're looking for something to bunch their bloomers over, and don't want to let the facts get in the way of a good snit.

They get bent out of shape. You get bent out of shape.

In the end, what's the difference?

The LA Times is a Spanish-language media outlet?

I was just remarking that it was funny that you have two completely different perspectives over the same thing.

First off, I'm not sure it's going to happen. Secondly, if they do change the name to America USA, then that's just silly. Two teams in MLS with dorky names that end in USA? Still, doubtful that will happen. Chivas USA hasn't even happened yet.

Take a look at your original quote, Wally.

Now, in which US city is La Record based? That would be Mexico City, capital of the United States of Mexico, NOT a city in the United States of America. Check your geography...

Is it an English language news source?

I didn't know he was referring to La Record. I thought he was reffering to the LA Times. This on top of the fact that I've never heard of La Record nor could I haved told you where it is.

Regardless, my whole point of this was just to show the difference in perspectives. That's all.

I really don't care what Mexican teams get what MLS teams. I just don't anymore. Let them come. Let them slap 'USA' and the end of their nicknames. I don't care. Personally, I don't think that end product of both America USA and Chivas USA are going to be anything like what people say they will be, hope they will be or fear they will be.

I don't think they're going to turn out how 90% of the people think they are. I don't think they're going to bring about the downfall of US soccer nor will they create a race rift, but I also don't think they're going to be as successful at pulling in the hispanic population as they want. There are too many variables to factor in and the only way to know what's going to happen is to wait and see what's going to happen.

Thus far Chivas USA still doesn't even have a home.

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Only if they start brand-new expansion MLS franchises.

Is there some way we could program the software of these boards to make these words pop up as an auto-response to any of the thousands of irrational droolings about how the Mexicans want to take over MLS and turn it into a feeder league for the MFL, or want to have all-Mexican rosters or any of the other nonsense we've seen around here?

What the hell are you talking about? Did you even READ my post? You quoted that damn thing.

Does that sound like an irrational drooling about how the Mexicans want to take over MLS and turn it into a feer league for the MFL?

I'm sorry, I was quoting your post as a fitting RESPONSE to those who think that. I'm sorry if I gave the impression that I believed that you were one of them.

Your point that things are rarely as bad as the naysayers think they will be is a good one, and I thought that you articulated that very well.

this is all reminescence of the whole Chivas episode

When news I mean rumors broke that Chivas will
    -expand in 2004
    -have all-Mexicans
    -play in LA?

    and guess what happened?

-Chivas will play in 2005 as oppose to Vergera's desire of 2004.
    -Chivas will follow MLS rules
-Chivas will not play in LA unless Chivas can pimp up $1 a year to pay the Galaxy for using its territory.

    AEG vs. Chivas. AEG won
AEG vs. Club America. AEG will win.

And beside, if Club America own the Earthquakes, it still control only 49% of the team at the max. Unless the other owners of MLS agree, there will not be a lot of changes. In order to sell the LA Dodgers, MLB has to agree like 3/4 of the votes by the 29 other owners. (it passed yesterday I believe). In order to move San Jose or change its name, MLS owners will have to vote.
