ok one huge criticism that most people have of the Nordecke and i agree with them, is that we do not have/use very many chants. after the 20 "we love ya" i kind of get tired of it. i have been looking on youtube for more chants and I have seen some pretty sweet ones. most of them are just old jingles(ex: she'll be comin round the mountain) in which they changed the words. on of my favorites is bum bum klatsh:

    http://www.youtube.com/v/x4QomEaYtfk&hl=en&fs=1

    http://www.youtube.com/v/pNMd8OPQ23Y&hl=en&fs=1

    http://www.youtube.com/v/5REAVVPdqNg&hl=en&fs=1

when they yell we can change it to go columbus clap,clap-clap,clap,clap
    anyone else have any ideas?

I still don't know why we haven't stolen this chant and made it into the super frankie hejduk song. It fits perfectly.

I was gonna say I've sang the Super Frank chant on a number of occasions. It hasn't taken off like Ale's song but it has been done. It's mostly HHM who tries to get it going as I recall.

its easy to suggest/come up with new songs but it very hard to get them into rotation at games. You can find a thousand songs on youtube or wherever that could be used with most of them using the same song form (most are based off of kids/folk songs) but the reality is that there is a large majority of people who don't know these songs types, dont care to learn or they get killed off by one of the four songs that are done over and over.

the songs that we do use the most are ones that can be used at anytime throughout the game. we don't have that many songs that are spontaneous and reactionary. these are the songs that usually have the same song type but interchangeable lyrics. unfortuantley, for some reason these just don't catch on.

chants tend to be the popular thing and not songs. there were lots of times when I could hear super frank starting and then it got killed by people who are not familiar with super frank chanting "Frankie Hejduk clap clap clap" over and over. People don't have to learn anything to chant something basic over and over.

I am sure this is a topic that has been discussed several times over the years. I have only been on this board since early this year, but I know enough to know that most people on here have good song ideas or want to do songs but the problem seems to be the stuff I just mentioned.

thats why we need to be more organized if everyone on big soccer knows we are going to start some new chant and they all know it then it will be a lot easier to get going you have to start somewhere plus i think that chant i posted was pretty cool and easy to learn it would not be hard to get started you just have to start slow teach it to like 20 people and start it pre game when everyone is just getting there people will listen i don't think it will be that hard to start some new chants next season look at the la turbina they start a new one every game no one knows what they are saying most the time but eventually we all learn it

What you said. If we keep things extremely easy, we have a higher chance of getting new people to join in.

However, if we add new stuff, it keeps things fresh to the people who have been doing the same things over and over again.

It's those songs that some often request that are iffy because a few in the sections are 'conservative'. There's those who think some singing is gay, corny or might not have the commitment to learn Spanish words. I think the newer , more simple chants can do well next season especially if the K.I.S.S. method is applied.

I gotta admit that I'd love to see YSA replaced with something else, having heard the NYRB crowd use it as well.

Um, hello?? It's an original Chicago Fire occurance. The fact that we do it now should be shame-inducing.

May YSA die a sudden ignominous death.

the key is to have people who know the song spread throughout the section and not just be centralized in one place. This way the people in between them can start to pick it up. Once again though, one of the 4 popular songs will probably get started over top of it and then drown out the new song because the casual fan knows it and would rather sing something they know. I am sure that all 3 main groups attempted new songs this year but they didn't gain steam outside of their loyal group and then got smothered by "We love you" or "Yo Se Le Voy.'

Corrcet me if i'm wrong but these are the big songs...

    Yo si la voy
    We love ya
    Oh a oh
    ysa
    Oh when the Crew

There are several others that never really get beyond one section at a time as well. I think rather than come up with new songs, we should make two or three more rise to prominance.

I think the following are close but need that extra push....

We hate...also think we should replace Red Bull with Toronto
    Columbus *clap clap clap*
    There's only one
    We shall not be moved
Dale...but the rather awkward change in tempo halfway through always kills it

At the end of this year LTA had a new song that i liked but i don't know the words to the middle verse.

Though I personally take no offense to YSA, I do find it hard to get into at times. I like the build up of the entire section yelling "ohhhh"...so keeping with the same syllables, how about exchanging YSA with "we are massive". Just an idea. The only negative I can immediately think of is that it may overplay the whole massive angle if you take in consideration the spontaneous "we are...massive chants."

I agree I like YSA better too, its done everywhere but i still love it.

I agree those songs get sung but they aren't regular standards, i'd like to see them reach the same leval as the others and it would be easier than learning a whole new song.

We need to get some more people to learn these that we already do:

    You are my Rogers
    My Robbie Rogers
    You make me happy
    When skies are gray
    When it's pouring
    You just keep scoring
Please don't take my Rogers away!

    He's fast, he's quick, he's name's a porno flick!
    Emanuel, Emanuel!

    Super, Super Frank,
    Super, Super Frank,
    Super, Super Frank,
    Super Frankie Hejduk

We also used to do the Great Escape song with Columbus thrown in, but one we got larger in number it was too hard to get people to join in since it would usually end up getting overpowered with something else.

Also, Columbus till I die is a standard everyone has seemed to overlook so far in the thread and the "oh oh" song is called vindaloo
