Quad Cities Firehouse!!!! Sweet home Moline, here we come!

Come on, folks, how many redundant Firehouse threads are we going to start here? One for every damn city neighborhood and suburb within 100 miles of the Loop? Should we include NW Indiana and SE Wisconsin? Maybe a purpose-built man-made island a mile out into Lake Michigan?

Look, if you insist on pummelling this particular deceased equine into a puddle of liquid molecular goo, could you kindly do it in just one thread, please?

Not that I disagree with you in the least bit, but..umm. Nobody makes you click on the threads. It's pretty obvious what's in them from the title. You could just abstain. Some people just don't have anything better to do. And I'm not knocking those people. More power to em.

I see what you're saying but I'd rather not have to wade through ten threads all about the same topic.

We have a discussion going on about how many game threads there should be for the same reason. I'd like to see just one "Firehouse" thread since it usually just ends up being the same old baseless speculation, "What if" games and "city versus suburbs" arguing that has been going on since the SF renovation was first announced.

I'm right there with you, man. I am just sitting waiting patiently for the "official: Firehouse to be built xxx xxx xxx" thread myself. I think most of the arguments, points have been hashed over pretty well. But, talking about the possibilities seems to help people pass the time.

Maybe one of the Mod's can change the current Itasca thread to "Future Firehouse discussion" or something and let that one roll until eternity or when we finally get our own stadium. Whichever comes first.

    Come on, people. GALESBURG!

    1) the mayor is a Fire fan.
    2) Cheap land, cheap housing (a player making $24,000 could live like a king, esp. since there's nothing to spend money on).
    3) it's centrally isolated, equally inconvenient for everybody.

It is oh so easy NOT to click on a link :)

I would disagree with you to a point. The location of the team is the single biggest issue outside of its actual existence. The team recently sent out RFPs to a number of communities.

As some of those respond positively, I think those towns deserve discussion regarding their merits. There won't be that many.

I would agree that we don't need threads based on idle speculation, but I believe there has been an initial positive response from Itasca and public comments from Naperville wishing to keep us.

In my opinion, a town or village that openly expresses a desire to attract the team is desrving of their very own thread on a BS message board.

Moline is too far out, and doesn't have good mass transit facilities. ;) There is a Mexican joint called Rudy's that is quite good.

Fine. Cool. Copascetic and all that. But doesn't mean we have to deal with the thread pollution of 114 different threads on the same topic.

I respectfully disagree until at least such time as the signal to noise ratios in such discussions improve dramatically.

Just think of the catchment area of Chicago, St. Louis, Decatur, Camp/Urana, Terre Haute and Evansville if the Fire would only have the good sense to solicit a stadium deal from the thriving metropolis of Mattoon, Illinois. Why, I bet they'd have no problem with beer at the stadium! That such a golden opportunity goes begging simply boggles the mind.
