it is 14 degrees outside with a wind chill factor of 3 degrees right now in columbus... and there are probably around 35,000 people in ohio stadium right now for a celebration honoring the national champions, now i am sorry but i am a huge ohio state fan but there is no way in hell you would get me outside for 3 hours in this weather to cheer on any team...
What is even worse (and a true statement about the utter sickness that is Buckeye Football) is that as we speak, the flagship radio station of the Ohio State Football radio network is REPLAYING the game. That's right. A radio RE-broadcast of the game. ::shakes head::
okay, my bad... official reports say there were 50,000-60,000 people, good lord...and it was all of 10 degrees outside. http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/news?slug=ap-ohiost-celebration&prov=ap&type=lgns
This city is OFFICIALLY off their rocker now. Renaming a street for ONE freaking championship, and 60,000 people freeze their ass off for a couple of hours in a stadium to watch a pep rally. WTF
(Willie? ) Cie Grant can really sing. Did any of you catch the end where he did a solo of Carmen Ohio? That was very nice. Once I saw Mayor Coleman and then Gov Taft, I about lost my lunch. Dorks. I used to live on Lane Avenue years back. Anyone remember that player from the past, Garcia Lane? It was quite a dorky event especially since the game was a couple of weeks ago, but who said there is never anything to do in Columbus? I hope nobody mistook this celebration for the anti-war protest.
I appreciated the radio re-broadcast. I really like radio sports better than TV. I usually turn off the idiots who do TV and listen to the local radio boradcast. The local guys are usually fairly in-depth and original. The national guys just read the press guide stuff that loyal fans already know. I watched the Fiesta Bowl at a party where I was forced to listen to Dan Fouts and Keith Jackson. I was glad they re-broadcast the radio call, so I could finally hear the game called well.
it's not an entire street, it's probably only temporary and it will probably still be lane avenue on the maps.
I got there around 10, got in line before 10:30 Gates opened around 10:30. A little after 11, all the seats on the lower west side were full.
