    Texas? Huh?

Whatever, their football team is the Braves of college football. The longhorns have free access to probably the best talent pool in the country minus Florida, and when was the last time they won a national championship? 19 freaking 70, and even that was shared between 2 other teams.

Anything short of a national championship year for that school should be a dissapointment, just as is the case at Florida, Florida St., and Miami. They have more success than most schools when it comes to the season and some bowl games, but it's nothing to gawk at and every single season is a dissapointment. Mac Brown is a joke and Chrissy Sims will melt-down again come post-season.

Even if you are going to pick a team from the Big-12 to use in the issue, go for Oklahoma, they have more success than Texas.

This was solely "Let's sell shytload of issues in Texas", and you know what? This will do it and it's just gonna give Longhorns a bigger ego than they already have.

Oh, by the way, did I mention I hate Texas? :D

Of course you hate Texas. Where are KU and KS in this rating system?

But I don't necessarily think you come to the right conclusions. Texas is a fertile ground for recruits --and everyone in the world knows it. Certianly, your heroes, OU, know it. But Texas has been a consistent "threat" in the last few years, and thus has been able to somewhat reverse the one-way tickets to Florida.

But this article is about all around championships. And Texas, who is best at baseball, football, and also is a "threat" in basketball, is pretty scary. Swimming, tennis, etc. as bonuses. And women's sports.

Personally, I would have given it to Stanford just for the graduation rate comparison. Texas is woeful.

But fat Mangino will defeat Baylor on Saturday, so perhaps Kansas will have much to crow about.

This is Lucid, proving once again that reading comprehension is optional at KU, a.k.a. the academic doormat of the Big XII. Sports Illustrated was talking about all sports, Chickenhawk. And the last time I checked, KU hadn't won a national championship in jack squat lately.

    (Incidentally, Segroves, OU is #3.)

Agreed, my beef is with all that talent, how come they haven't won a national championship in football in over 30 years with the kind of talent they have? Florida has the talent to feed 3 national championship programs, and Texas can't even produce one?

Of the only sports in college that matter, football and basketball, Kansas has one national championship in the last 30 years compared to the zero Texas has.

KU's 1988 basketball championship = ancient history. (I mean, how old were you then? Three years old? Four? Six?)

    UT's 1970 football championship = ancient history

In other words, you ain't won jack lately.

And for the record, Texas has three championship in sports that matter in the last 30 years. They won the baseball championships in 1975, 1983, and 2002.
