No, it's his usual passive-aggressive way of attacking me, suggesting it is my fault if relationships end. In case you haven't noticed, dave likes to take pot-shots at me on a regular basis. His passive-aggressive insults are primarily directed at the minorities who regularly participate here.

I'm not entirely clear on what your point is then. It's okay for members of the LGBTQ community to shun family members who perceive them negatively, but then you ask if the breakdown of the relationship might not still be their fault?

 

I'm posting this tweet here because, well, they're learning the hard way. A lot of younger people went towards Trump and I just have to laugh because well, if you were in the job market late 00s early 10s, especially if you were out of college, it's not easy to have sympathy.

The longer they have to live like that, the better.

They were leaning right all along. America has pulled off the mask of freedom and safety. Probably permanently, certainly for the balance of my life. Those young people can't be brought back, nothing we did wrong to drive them off. Trump simply made dehumanization fashionable.

They displayed their unwillingness to support the most vulnerable when they went towards Trump, so they deserve to be made more vulnerable themselves. When they learn to become part of the solution, maybe someone of good will will care what becomes of them.

 

When your party is made of more ideas than hate, you're going to get a wide variety of views.
The Dems can work harder at meeting the needs of that community, or they can tell them to get out of the hole entirely, because their agenda isn't and will never be part of the platform.

The Dems are cowards for not telling Muslims they're unwelcome.

 

Clearly you don't understand the Dems. We're the party of inclusion. We won't hold all Muslims responsible for the actions of the Arab Americans for Trump, who stabbed us all in the back. We're going to need landslide results in '26 & '28 if we hope to defeat fascism - telling American Muslims they're unwelcome would be completely stupid.

 

Asking for their vote with a de facto slogan of, "Hey, at least we'll only mistreat you a little, so you best vote for us" is what's stupid. My guess is that they got tired of Dems not fighting for them.

...Latino votes, Arab American votes, young people votes, etc., our job is to win those votes back, not tell whole religious groups, etc., that they're now unwelcome.

Clearly Dems couldn't afford even small numbers of defections in a country so evenly divided.

 

Point is that it's weird to focus primarily on (small) gains Trump might have made with black and hispanic voters when the one group that has repeatedly got him to the White House are white voters.

 

And just in case anyone wonders, if it were only LGBT+ voters Kamala would have won 538-0 as well.

 

What about trans voters?Should Pride Month be replaced by White Babies Month to attract centrist Dems who stay home?

 

My point is that we saw declining support from African Americans and other groups when clearly the moment called for party unity and loyalty, we could ill afford to lose a single vote. So yes, as a portion of the overall community, the numbers were small...but we were also facing down fascism, every defector knew exactly who they were supporting, soooo, at a time when you'd expect a great rally, just enough folks voted against their own interests and here we are. And, the bigger point I was making, we're going to need to win back each and every vote...and then we're going to need to add a whole bunch more, or the great experiment comes to a sad conclusion. We can't be writing off anyone.
