Her uncle is a GOP politician who has sponsored various anti-trans bills in her home state.

It's been a tough week for him/her/they. He/She/They is/are frustrated. He/She/They knows the Democratic Party is moving in a direction that is going to make him/her/them end up voting Republican by the end of the decade.

 

If socialism is making them MAGA, I won't complain. Education is a state function, so this isn't ever going to be sorted out for me. Let it blow up.

Which is understandable if they're not rich. As I've said before, it takes a shitload of money to make use of living in a large metro area. Plenty of people move to a big city, see some performance street art and graffiti vandalism and think they're part of something, but the fact is that they can't afford the REAL stuff* that sets big cities apart from the rest of the country. So they live like the Evans family in the midst of the Huxtable lifestyle they'll never experience.

Hint: The real stuff is not grass roots with the suitcase open for tips shit. That's just reverse snobbery.

 

More interesting than Chappell Roan and her minuscule role in this all might be how the international TERF brigade will respond to this. The policies they have dreamed about are being enacted by some of the absolute worst people in the world.
You would think that eventually they would have an "Are we the baddies?" type moment? But nope.

I’ve heard Freewill Baptists mocked as Foot Washing Baptists. Not sure why or how that joke is supposed to be funny, but I thought the board would appreciate a journey into the mind of the small town South. It denotes very severe Baptists, basically the last stop before the train station at Snake Handler City.

 

I grew up in a state where Republicans had a majority in at least one chamber of government. For nearly 100% of my life. You know how much work has had to be done to get things better? MI Dems finally got one trifecta and for once I got to see what an effective state government looks like. Be grateful Alabama at least had Dems in majority in some chambers in the last couple of decades.

It ain't blowing up like you think if you pay attention to what's going on. But if Dems manage to be in charge, it's going to be a lot of work.

 

If she was just another popstar I wouldn't have cared. But because she claims to be a lesbian and has a gay fanbase while not mentioning her Republican uncle, I'm gonna have a problem with that. Especially as I have a few family members that are openly gay (One of them since the 60s) along with several friends.

While true in the US, that isn't so elsewhere in the world. Racism exists everywhere and takes all kinds of forms against all kinds of folk.
