This article is a bit more positive, but also seems to confirm that Kenny is on the outs: https://www.voetbalprimeur.be/nieuw...echt-maar-kompany-liet-hem-links-liggen-.html I saw an article in Voetbal about a week ago that said that Kenny is among 5 or six players Vanhaezebrouck brought in that are no-longer playing serious minutes. The article seemed to insinuate that RSC would be open to taking small budget hits to get them off their books.
http://www.kvo.be/nieuws/kvo-klopt-anderlecht-palaversa-maakt-comeback Started and played 45' against KV Oostende in a friendly last Thursday. They lost 3-1. This was the first time he's played for a senior team since Kompany's testimonial. The tabloids claim that Saief had been benched by Kompany and that RSC's new manager potentially sees him as useful.
RSC? That's Cahrleroi, right? If so, it isn't too bad. They've been having a few good seasons in a row over the last five seasons. They're also (quite) a few places higher up the table than Anderlecht.
Yeah, that was poorly worded, sorry. He's still at Anderlecht, but Anderlecht hired a new manager (Frank Vercauteren) who might be into him.
https://www.voetbalprimeur.be/nieuw...n-heeft-geen-plaats-meer-bij-anderlecht-.html Oof... the narrative around Kenny remains fickle as ever... just a week after the various Belgian tabloids speculated that he might be making a comeback, 'La Dernière Heure' now says that Frank Vercauteren also doesn't rate him and that, "Saief will never again be part of the 21-man match selection." Any MLS sides want to take a flyer on him? He looked alright with FCC until he got injured. Maybe he'll head back to Israel.
Rumored that Kenny Saief, who turned 26 today, may go on loan from Anderlecht in January to Maccabi Haifa. There was a lot of hope for him as a key contributor for the USMNT after his switch from Israel but that has not come close to a reality. https://t.co/vqBUV5t9en— ChuckMe92 Soccer (@ChuckMe92Soccer) December 18, 2019
pfft yeah ream is super fast... I swear once a player has that "scarlett letter" of failure everyone loves to jump in.... he´s not slow and is a good defender, imo.
I'm just basing that opinion over what I saw of him with FCC. He looked very stiff and struggled to get separation from defenders to even put a cross in much less beat them on the dribble. Not sure if injuries have taken their toll on him, but if he was struggling to stand out on MLS' worst team, he's going to struggle at a bunch of other places too
You can be pretty sure about this. He was a guy with a very high ceiling before his botched sports hernia surgery in 2017. He was 'aight' when he first moved to Anderlecht, but the narrative the Belgian media has it that his coach really really wanted him, over-paid to get him, and maybe over-rated him in the squad. The injury he suffered with the MNT in the summer of 2018 kinda sealed his fate: he is a shadow of the player he was at Gent between 2014 - 2017. It's a real shame, but unless he totally rebuilds himself, I think he's another "what if" lost to monster of injury.
I don't think he was anything special before the injuries either, but indeed we should root for him to finally get to a club where he can actually play.
https://www.sudinfo.be/id160544/art...lecht-kenny-saief-pourrait-rebondir-en-israel Kenny's agent claims that Kenny will "bounce back" at an Israeli club, but nothing concrete has come up. Another (seemingly random) user on Twitter claims that rumors were made about Maccabi Haifa, but that the club hasn't put forth an offer and it will be one of the other big Israeli clubs.
Yup. I don't think their supporter's hideous, racist, and shameful chant - which I won't even say - would go over well with Kenny. It shouldn't go over well with anyone, period. As for Kenny......I really hope the dude lands on his feet. When healthy, I like his play. Fingers crossed it works out for him.
