Yeah I don't rate Davies either. We'll become even more leaky. But make no mistake we need to replace Mendy. Preferably by a guy similar to Dani

 

Who played LB for Barca?

 

While I don't like people putting their magnifying glass on and focusing on Mendy, I do think he's a liability on the ball in general. I know you disagree, but for me it's exceptionally clear that this is the case.

More specifically re the Clasico, I feel he was largely responsible for that first goal, which allowed momentum to shift completely towards Barca and introduced us to a complete collapse (which can be attributed to Lucas in large parts (individual mistakes matter!) and the rest of the team in general of course). These details are essential in such games, so it's valid criticism.

I don't like the "ship him to country X or Y" stuff though. I think Mendy is a useful player to have in the squad.

Mendi CM, Camavinga LB. Makes total sense.

 

Renewing him early in the summer was a mistake. The club should have waited because now, as things stand, he's going to be a burden for another 2-3 years.

 

'Till 2027...

 

Shouldn't see a football pitch until the day the other LB drops an absolute stinker.

 

I hate seeing Camavinga at LB. Still I'd rather see him there than Mendy play again.
