http://www.ajax.nl/show/id=1322/contentid=28877 Achilles has him training apart from the rest of the team, among others.
Unknown; another piece on Ajax's site has JOB possibly part of the team that travels to Twente if he trains on Saturday. It's probably a question of whether he can play through the pain before being able to rest this offseason.
He better stay the hell away from both ConFed Cup AND Gold Cup. This coming season is probably the most important for his Club Career. Its the last year in his contract and after he will be a free transfer
Well,if you understand JOB's injury history it's hard not to be concerned... Although I reckon this may be less of a big deal for Ajax fans than US fans.
A lack of depth in defense is Ajax's biggest problem right now. JOB and Trabelsi are the two most effective attacking outside defenders on the team. Injuries to these two will seriously hurt Ajax's chance of taking 2nd place and a spot in next season's CL. So yes, it's very important to Ajax fans. I don't expect JOB to play in ConfedCup. He needs recuperation time.
No, because he is more important to the US Nats than he is to Ajax. Ajax has replacements for him, we have none.
Well, I wouldn't go that far. But his midfield skill certianly makes him more attractive. I suppose we'll find out in January or February where he's gonna go.
again... what?!? IMO the US midfield depth can cover for JOB better than the AJAX LB depth can AND he's rafael van der vaart's partner in crime (just as trabelsi is van der meyde's on the right) - AJAX likes to own both wings - LB alternatives? maxwell (terrific, but then who plays Dmid?) van damme (ok, better elsewhere) yakubu (ok, better on the right) heitenga (out for the season, better on the right) move sneijder back (not bad, inexperienced) move chivu (forget it, he's home inside) 4 of 6 02-03 losses without JOB US MF options: reyna, DMB, lewis, donovan, mathis, olsen, kirovski, convey, cobi, martino, klein - certainly one can find three out of that group to satisfy - if my math is correct, the US are 11-5-6 when JOB plays, plenty good of course my bottom line (and ronald koeman agrees): AJAX are at their best with JOB in the lineup
Oooh,controversy... I'm not saying Ajax wouldn't miss JOB,although eventually Sneijder will be the best replacement there,it seems. And in two years, there will be another boy (or two) ,now in the Acadamy, who will be ready to compete for the spot at LB. The US is simply an infinitely poorer team without JOB in the lineup, both in terms of results (really, can you imagine us in the QF minus Johnny?)and in style/quality of play (no more longball for 90). bluedaddy,I checked your depth chart, and I'm not going to turn this into a USA forum.I'll just say that a midfield with any three of those listed is not as effective a midfield as one with any two listed+O'Brien.
By the way, Arena said that JOB will be getting a rest this summer and won't play in the confed or gold cup
i wouldn't get too worried about this without an official comment on an injury. Based on nothing but wild speculation and baseless conjecture I believe that JOB rushed back a little too soon and is sufferig from a slight case of tendenitis. Two months off with some light workouts is all he needs. Then next fall he will be ready to lead Ajax to the Dutch championship and the USA in the preliminary stages of Germany '06 qualifying.
