Officials: Blast at Baghdad Hotel kills 7, wounds 40

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- An "extremely powerful" explosion on Sunday hit the Baghdad Hotel -- where U.S. officials are based -- killing at least seven people and wounding 40 others, Iraqi civil defense officials said.

Video of the scene showed part of the Baghdad Hotel knocked down, apparently by the force of the blast, as well as parts of nearby buildings.

According to witnesses, the blast was the result of a suicide car bomb.
