So...he watched the Toluca game? Half full view would be that it was to avoid risk of injury and completely close the door on a possible move???
Yea, but Hugo has played 945min (providing 6g & 2a) for us since Shaq left to play 73min in the Euros. Plus there was reporting that Hugo just returned to training from 'illness' the day before the Toluca match. We are getting our monies worth out of one of them...
Take those brainless snappy one liners to Twitter! Oh wait, I mean “X”… When you say a picture is worth a thousand words, is it a picture without Cuypers you’re talking about?
Mods! Stop sucking balls and Close this Thread Chicago Fire FC today announced that the Club and Xherdan Shaqiri have agreed to terminate the midfielder’s contract. “After discussions with Xherdan, we have mutually agreed that parting ways is in the best interest of all parties,” said Chicago Fire FC Sporting Director Georg Heitz. “We thank him for his contributions to the Club and wish him success in the next chapter of his career." Shaqiri, 32, originally joined the Fire as a Designated Player on Feb. 9, 2022, via transfer from Olympique Lyonnais (Ligue 1, France). The Swiss international appeared in 75 matches (63 starts) for the Fire across all competitions, scoring 16 goals and registering 20 assists. “I believe this is the right time for me to explore new opportunities in my career,” said Shaqiri. “I want to thank the Club and the fans for their support during my time in Chicago. I wish the Fire nothing but success moving forward.”
I've never been a Shaq hater and I've enjoyed watching him play, but the signing was objectively a disaster
Good. This wasn’t working for anyone. Best of luck in the future Shaq. I somehow fully expect him to light it up on whatever team he signs for next and it will infuriate me.
I had no idea who he was when we signed him and also enjoyed watching him play (he’s up there with the best players I’ve ever seen play for us), but knowing the other pieces around him and the coaches we’ve had managing those pieces, for him and for us, I definitely wouldn’t do it again if I had a time machine.
This. 100% I was a fan of his, stemming from his time with Liverpool and the Swiss National Team. I was very happy with the signing. I was very unhappy with how he and the team around him performed. That was on the team more than him, but he bares quite a bit of the responsibility.
whatever Shaq's strengths, it's pretty clear in the MLS system that a guy with his profile is not a good use of a DP slot, much less a top-5 salary will be pretty curious to see where he ends up
exactly which is why a guy like that is a terrible fit for a league where every team has its Herberses and Barlows
best shaq moment for me Rip to the Big Shaq era. Scored some bangers but will forever be remembered for the penalty he buried vs Minnesota after Dayne St. Clair said he had no balls. Fire for life. #Cf97 pic.twitter.com/7WtsTq3cIh https://t.co/RpyNK6ctnv— Moosh (@moosh_1718) August 14, 2024
Ok well...this week has been a good week for Fire fans. Not surprised by this happening really only surprised it actually got done somehow. Sign no one, but promote Glasgow and ride out the season and see what sticks.
