Watching the player you're overpaying do something for a team that's not yours is *totally* going to make everyone forget the 3 years of "nothing better than a cheap, average player in this league" he's done for you.

That's the ticket! This time for sure!

So he gets an extended vacation during the season while the Fire are floundering. That about checks out for this club. I get that they are trying to get a deal done, but the Fire have his services for the remainder of the year and could probably use him at this point.

Let's face it, he probably isn't going anywhere until January.

    Not with that wage packet.

Could Joe eat half, or some portion of Shaq's pay? They'd have teams after him if Shaq wasn't due 8+million a year.

MLS still needs to overpay some Europe based players to come here, but this is where it can work against teams trying to then off load.

There should be like a "secondhand market" for players.

Maybe Heitz needs to hire a used car salesman

Can we see a 3-5-2 with Shaqiri as a false 9 and Guti supporting the attack from the middle?

    Hell no.

We could have used him for years. He doesn't show up for us. We play better when he's not there.

Since we're setting his salary money on fire anyway, let him stay wherever the hell he wants as long as it's not hear.

That would be our best chance to suck less, well, slightly less.

So.. this completely new idea and new position that no prior coach or prior team
    ever thought about before.
Yeah, pretty sure that will probably (not) work!
OR he will work hard and look good for two matches- and Heitz will sign him to a new 5 year contract!

    His 60mins were
    upload_2024-7-14_18-28-3.png

I’m not a fan of taking Guti out of that role…the development minutes are too valuable, and he’s showing (non measurable :p) growth every game. More and more comfortable holding, driving, and passing.

Maaaaybe, something like this...but need some of those injuries to be resolved...wouldn't do this with Acosta, Souquet and Dean

That is the best we can expect at the moment.

No, regardless of how he played the rest of this season, he won't get a "new 5 year contract" but you can have your fantasies.

It would not be a fantasy to me, it would be a nightmare!
Kinda funny-Transfermarkt says he was an AM in his (brief) appearance. If we could get him to pitch his tent in the middle and play at the same level as he does for Swiss Nats, it could be an improvement. Of course, it seems to be an accepted fact he plays different/better for them than for the Fire.
    Relax, just having fun here.
