THE Western Sydney Wanderers could be on the verge of hosting the biggest name in football with David Beckham’s mooted guest stint most likely to take place in either Sydney or Brisbane.

Beckham is currently playing with Los Angeles Galaxy but will be free to join another club on a short-term loan deal once the MLS season finishes on December 1.

It's been reported that the FFA will have to financially contribute to any deal to bring "Becks" to the A-League.

FFA sale of Wanderers gathering pace

“This club has been built on community engagement, so it’s a process that needs a lot of focus and can’t be taken lightly. You wouldn’t rush into it and risk making the wrong decisions.”
Gorman has steered the Wanderers superbly off the field, just as coach Tony Popovic steered the team on it to win the Premiers' Plate and make the grand final, which it lost 2-0 to Central Coast Mariners.
The Wanderers have qualified to play in the AFC Champions League in 2014.
There is speculation the Wanderers could be worth as much as $20 million in a sale to private owners. There are also suggestions a sale could involve partial ownership by the community, with which the club has connected brilliantly.
But Gorman is not about to paint himself into a corner on such issues and said everything will be worked out after thorough examination.
“All of this is on the radar of the FFA board,” Gorman said.
“It’s not just about money, or how much money, it’s about whose money, and what they bring to the table in terms of preserving and growing the tremendous building blocks that are in place, and which, fundamentally, are built on a very strong community engagement model.
“Whether that can transition into a community ownership model in some per cent form or another requires a lot more examination and analysis to see if there is such a model that is feasible.
“The underlying principle is that this club has always got to be focused on its community.
“Markets tell you your value, and there is no doubt there will be competitive tension around the potential ownership of this club, which will normally lead to some positive statement on value.
“But if someone came and put $20 million on the table today, and in the view of the FFA it wasn’t the right mix, and someone put 15 on the table, or 10, who were seen to be the right mix, then dollars won’t be the only criteria in transitioning the ownership of the club.”

hello fellow members, im new to this forum and as you can see by my pic i sing for wanderers...
on my avatar, what do you guys think of my tweaking of the jersey?? i always thought all the home jersey was missing was some white pin strips. I made the pin strips varying widths (largest on the chest and thinner working its way out).
Please give me some opinions guys

Western Sydney Wanderers expects to smash last year's home crowd average in the forthcoming A-League after new membership figures have already surpassed those of last season.

The fledgling club that took the competition by storm and won the Premiers' Plate drew an average attendance of 12,466 to its 13 home games at Parramatta Stadium.

With more than two months left for the start of the 2013-2014 competition, the Wanderers have sold 12,000 memberships.
"We've already surpassed last year's result so this means that as per today 12,000 fans are entitled to watch all our home games, which is absolutely fantastic," chief executive John Tsatsimas said.
Tsatsimas does not need reminding of the sporting adage that it is hard to reach the top and even harder to stay there.
He acknowledges that the club's second season might be more testing than the first but the club is ready to handle the extra pressure from the fans and media.
"Every season will have its challenges and I think every team understands that every season is harder than the previous," Tsatsimas said.
"It's not just a Wanderers thing.
"I know there will be certain expectations but we will approach the season as a football club out to solidify."
The Wanderers open their A-League account with a grand final repeat against Central Coast Mariners at Bluetongue Stadium on 12 October.

The A-League's newest club has already exceeded its target for new members as almost 14,000 season tickets had been sold as of Thursday. This will require the redevelopment of their home ground to be fast-tracked in order to accommodate more supporters.

I wonder how many of those tickets are former Sydney FC fans? It will be interesting to see if the futility they've shown since their last championship will come back to bite them in the butt.

True. Just thinking that's a pretty significant increase on memberships to not be poaching some off of SFC. Could be new fans, it will just be interesting to see what happens with SFC this season.

Yeah but considering how many NSL teams West sydney had then it is no surprise at all really. Over 2million people in western sydney alone which justifies the rise in members after a good season. My opinion is the wanderers will sell 16k ticketed members and reach the cap before the season starts.

By Wednesday Western Sydney had sold 14,285 memberships, all full-price season tickets, and the club is hurriedly working out a figure at which no more will be issued - somewhere between 15,000 and 16,000.

Manchester City interested in buying the Wanderers!?

I truly hope that whoever gets the ownership rights really has the best in mind for the club and the sport! I believe that City's owners have good intentions, I just hope they won't even consider to have the WSW playing in sky blue like what they intend to do with their other club, NYCFC! It's okay to do that in New York, because the club is newly founded and does not have an identity yet, but please don't mess with the Wanderers existing colors, crest and identity! But then again, the recent City away jersey looks very similar to the WSW jersey, so maybe City will be okay with the current colors!?

Just don't mess WSW up...this team could be a game-changer for the A-League, looking at their on- and especially off-field success. I don't think any other A-League team currently has a following with such a distinct culture in quality and quantity.
